Hi there
We are off grid and have no phone line.
We access the internet via the laptop using Vodaphone Mobile Connect.
It is ok but extremely slow (only about 8kbps - 20kbps).
When you do "select network" it shows the available networks in our area. According to the list Three 3G is on there. However we have a Vodaphone sim card and cannot use it.
I was wondering if there was a way of getting a Three sim card to test this connection so see if we could get Mobile Broadband as opposed to Mobile Internet-takes-flipping-ages-to-do-anything.
I guess we could apply to 3 for a contract but we would be then signed up for 2 years with no guarantee of actually working.
Is there anywhere which sells a 3 sim card which could put in our existing hardware (it is a Huewai E220 modem) to test out whether we would be able to access the 3, 3G network.
Then, if it does work, we would cancel the Vodaphone agreement and start with 3.
Currently we are paying £33 a month for the world slowest internet connection but beggars cant be choosers I guess.
Thanks
