Ever since I've had my phone there has been an intermittent problem with the main camera not always working; just get a black screen with the icons etc. Give it a smart rap on the palm of the hand will normally solve the problem.
Took it to a Nokia care centre and they couldn't do anything as it didn't have the correct firmware appropriate to the phone. It's with O2 but I debranded to install v20 firmware. They said it would have to go to Nokia and gave me the address for the service agent but said because it's not got the correct firmware they may have to charge me.
My point is, I've only recently installed update and the problem is not recent. I even contacted Nokia in October about the problem well before the update. Has anybody else had a warranty issue after debranding and updating firmware?

You could wait for o2 to release v20 and then change your firmware back to o2 and then request a repair again.
You could also try a different service centre. Sometimes it's pot luck when you get an a*** looking at the firmware. :D

I dont think its worth to worry about them doing it or not, you can try sending it to the freepost address, they'll probably do a firmware back to the original version anyway, from experience i think they always do that when they get a phone. I had my phone's firmware flashed twice & was told my camera overexposure issue fixed, then third time i sent a letter with 3 images of my camera & how it normally should look, luckily got it fixed on the 3rd attemped. Wat a bloody waste of screwed up time over 3 weeks, Thanks for the xmas gift & sucky service NOKIA (they did their job finally)
Unless you include a detailed letter with photos of the problem i think all this do is update the firmware and say.. there ya go its fixed. Half assed but hey, its what support has become these days, dont expect much.
If i were just, just ensure you change the product code back to the original, do a hard reset & switch the phone off send it and see what happens.
I luckily didn't update to version 20 firmware when i sent my phone so i was able to update back to my o2 latest version. The only way you can install the o2 version is when nokia releases a newer version, i think the service store can do it as well. I used essex cellular chingford (london),
If i took the phone to carphonewarehouse, they would ask for proof of ownership and all that nonsense.

I think the problem is mechanical rather than software as giving it a slap on the palm of the hand makes it work. And you can hear if you listed closely a whirring noise while it's trying to work and giving it a slap you hear a louder click a an image is on the screen.

Apart from the software questions, you will need to be able to explain this in a letter properly otherwise they will simply software update it, but its worth sending to them via post with a full explanation.

You could consider selling it and using the money to get out the contract....
