anyone else have this problem? Might be a coincidence but since I installed v20 my remote does not work
If I plug it in it askes if I connected:
Headset
Headphones
TV out
Music stand
before it used to pick it up straight away. The sound still comes out the headphones but the buttons dont work
tried cleaning connections and all wires are fine
thanks

That's a good point. I thought the headset was just broken. I think mine might be though, as the buttons don't work and the microphone on it doesn't work either
I got a problem with mine too - when I plug it in the phone restarts

there is one battery in the remote so yours might have a flat battery. I read elsewhere this normally happens on 6 month mark if you use it a lot.
Also it is said in other forums (yet to be confirmed) if you plug it in and while charge up the phone, it will go back to normal. So its all down to wether that piece of battery is rechargable.
I had to replace the battery in mine, it was a major hassle and resulted in me breaking the clip on the back of the headphone remote. Still, it works now! :)
and plugging it in did not charge it up :(

I can also confirm that the headphone buttons no longer work after a V20 upgrade!

I've not had an issue since updating to v20 but I have had 3 replacement headsets before now. I think there is problem in general with them. No sound, buttons not working and phone not recognising them when connected. Took one apart once and came to the conclusion there was a connection problem on circuit board as it would work when touching various connections. Totally non repairable though, had to break case to get in and everythings so small to work on.
Try contacting your supplier or Nokia for replacements.

Why would a battery matter, really, what difference really??
Anyway i can confirm i've updated & tested the headphone remote just now & it works fine. All the buttons work, when i plug it in, no questions are asked, when i press play the music player starts.
My headphones mic on one is a little broken but works.
I am using ipod headphone onto the remote, but even without headphones connected it still works the same, apart from the loudspeaker plays sound with no headphones.
Have you guys restored backups? (perhaps this could cause such issues)
Do a backup, hard reset the phone (to erase all settings on phone memory)
& then try the headphones.
THE HEADPHONES & REMOTE WORKS FINE AS PREVIOUS VERSION.

Small question, for a while now whenever I use the in-line remote with my headphones, I can only get sound coming out of 1 ear, although it works fine with just the headphones in on there own, could this be a battery problem as well?

I dont really see what logic there is to suggest that a battery will affect whether or not your sound on the headphone work.
I think the N95 remote is just designed bad and feeble, my headphones work on my remote but the mic sometimes works if i bend the wire.
I believe if you get a new remove/headphones it will work fine cause they break so easily.

Read the thread again, there is a battery in the headset remote.

How'd I get to the battery?

Ah, i see, really, that sounds a bit lame still though, how old is an N95, should we be changing any batteries? (apart from the original with a high capacity one)
I dont see why they need a battery in the remote, i had other headphones with remotes, they worked for years, so what did nokia do wrong here?

Never saw a battery in the one I took apart and ther's no way you can open it up without breaking it anyway.
My sons remote's packed up as well and that was before the upgrade.
i was wondering why my remote didn't work??? still i never use the remote as i don't think much of the nokia headphones. you would of thought for the price of an N95 nokia would of supplied a decent headset...

THE HEADPHONES & REMOTE WORKS FINE AS PREVIOUS VERSION.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO it doesnt! Wait to you get the reboot when you plug them in! There is a reason for it, I read somewhere, and it doesnt happen ALL the time...
