Hi people,
I've been with O2 for almost 15 months and generally been happy.

I was on a £35 package (750minutes/500text) but when they did the whole 0800 number I donwgradedto £17 (400minutes/200text).

I know got a bil for more than £40 for doing 250 minutes over my plan. I don't want to pay this as it seems wierd to me that I'm charged OVER TWICE my plan for HALF the minutes

I want to call them and ask to increase my plan but I don't want to pay those minutes or at least I want to recieve a discount. What can I do? What argument s can I use? Soes anyone have previous experience with them?

thanks!

From what you're saying, O2 have not overcharged you for your calls - you used up your bundle allowance and then went 250 minutes over and were charged accordingly. You might not want to pay it, but that's the price plan you're on and the prices are clearly advertised.

It's unlikely you'll get anywhere with them as that is the price plan you're on. If you do get anywhere let me know and I'll complain as I've went over my text allowance

Hi guys,
What I'm saying is that I don't understand why 250 minutes over my plan are charges at nearly 4 times(!) the cost of my plan. Is that treating customers fairly? I don't think so.

What will Ofcom say about this and why are O2 so stupid, do they want me to leave?

Have you actually spoken to an o2 advisor yet TB303?

I spoke to some minion at the call center:

As a highly trained o2 employee I find your tone a tad offensive, especially since I was actually trying to help.

Never mind.

I am sorry mate, I appericiate any help, I was quite disappointed with the person I talked with.
In the past I generally had very good experience with O2 Employees - it is annoying when you see that people clearly don't care about what you say.

If you have any suggestions, please do feel free to send a PM.

Thanks,

I find the title of the thread highly misleading. o2 is obviously charging you exactly what you singed up for, TB. You are on a price plan for £17 and they charge you this amount plus the minutes you have used additionally.

I'd say your option is to consider upgrading to a bigger bundle including more minutes, but I don't see why you should not have to pay the amount they are asking for. You know, there is a calculation done by o2 behind price plans. To offer bundles, they calculate that people sometimes use more or less of their bundles, thus making more money or saving some of it. I don't see how this would be unfair, but I'd be interested to hear how you'd get this resolved for you realistically?

Hi People,
To recap my main complaint - I think the pricing of "out of plan" minutes is totally outragous. I understand I "signed up for it" but look at the numbers:

£17 for 400 = 0.0425p
£40 for 250 = 0.16p

We are looking at 400% difference, I would have accepted 100% mark up on the plan or even 200%, but 400%?? does that sound fair? Will Ofcom think it fair?

I'll try and talk with them again today (if anyone has any ideas they are wellcome) but if this is not resolved than they lost me as a customer.

After 4 years on this forum, I just can't believe this thread.
Inclusive minutes are always cheaper - that's the way things work.

My Virgin SIM only deal gives me 300 minutes and 300 Text for £15.00. If I was to use them all that would work out at 2.5p a minute. Out of bundle Virgin X-Net costs 35p - work that out as a percentage increase!

16p per minute outside of bundle is a reasonable charge

You used them - you pay for them - else change to a more suitable package or find some other company who will be prepared to subsidise your excess minutes.

OK, I have an idea, tell me what you think,
I'll change my program back to the £35 one, but they do it retro-activly from the begining of the month?

Does that sound like an elegant solution?

you seem to be missing the point..

calls on O2 are charged @ 16p per minute. end of story.

thats how much the ycost.no, really...

HOWEVER.... as a free gift, O2 give you 250 minutes...FREE!!!! not @ .0425p, FREE.

the £17 is line rental and tax.

the free minutes are to entice you off PAYG and onto contract where the operators then have a guarenteed income from you for 12-18 months.

UPDATE:

My issue was actually resolves and amazingly in a satisfyed manner.

I talked to a bunch or reps at O2 demanding that they credit me at least some of the amount they chrged me, getting nowhere, when I've had it and I said I'd like my PAC code to leave them for good.

I was promptly passed on to a clearly brighter person. She actually listened to me, thought about it for a moment and noticed that I'm actually do for an upgrade, becaeu when there was the 0800 number thing I was in fact put on a sim-only tarif. She offered me a Nokia N81, we negotiated a package that includes 1000min/100text + the internet Web n walk thing - £37.50,
AND i got £30 credit on that £40 they overcharged me...

So I actually remembered that for most of my time with O2 they were fairly competent, certainly better than Orange.

Anyway, the lesson here?
Never listen to nay-sayers.

Well, good to hear you got this solved. Naturally, nobody here could have known that you are due for an upgrade, plus that you'd be willing to upgrade your plan and thus extend your contract (I guess) for another 12 - 18 months. :-)

Cheers
