Cant Retrieve my NTL emails via TMOB

Hi

I have just purchased the LG Viewty of Tmob and teh unlimited Web and Walk however I am having a persistent problem which Tmobile it seems TMOb cant sort out...

I cant retrieve my Ntlworld.com emails but I can send them ???:o

Confused!!

I have called Tmob a number of times however I keep being put to the technical team who tell me that they will call me back but they dont..

Everytime I try to retreve I either get a message saying 'Login failed' whilst it is trying to authorise or DNS Lookup failed

Its very frustrating....

Also I cant get Messenger!!!

Are you sure it's T-Mobile's problem? I've only ever heard bad things about NTL's e-mails, and it's more likely either a misconfiguration your end or an incompatibility of the LG Viewty's e-mail client. I have no experience of NTL email so I couldn't comment further.

Messenger is not allowed on web'n'walk handest, only on web'n'walk Plus or Max (see the T&C for w'n'w).

Very strange you can send via NTL/Virgin's servers as most ISPs block SMTP connection attempts from outside IP addresses unless you are using authenticated SMTP which means a password needs to be presented before it can connect.

Also the DNS lookup failure may suggest a bad DNS record in T-mob's DNS cache (which is designed to speed up look ups but if an entry is in there but the IP address is wrong then it wont find the server)

Ring CS and ask them to look up the server name in their DNS cache and delete the entry which will force a look up from the root servers.

Don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but has taken a while for me to get there, eventually just used the tmobile website to run a wizard, asked me a few questions and then sent me an install file to the viewty by sms. Worked first time.
