Hi,
After many calls and much deliberating I've just accepted the following as an upgrade....
SE K850i
300 mins
150 texts (+500 add on) = 650
25 mms
25 video
£5 downloads
On a 12 month contract for £25 per month with £70 for the phone
I could have had 18month with free phone but I detest 18 month contracts!
Does that sound like a good deal??
Cheers,
Ian

It does look like a reasonable deal to me.

How did you get such a good deal? I'd love to know as it's upgrade time for me next month, and I'm expecting a fight to get the LG Viewty on a good deal.
Any ideas appreciated!

They rang me, they offered me some deals, said the direct text 1400 for £15 a month was no more, i told them there current mix and match deals were rubbish.
I said id think about the poor deal he offered me, he rang back a few days later, i told him someone had got the N95 deal, then he offered the same to me.
Quite happy with it really as its only 12 months.
My old 3 sim is dodgy in the N95 though, quite a common problem, so a new sim is being sent out to me.
i have the n95 with 3 and slingbox xseries , its time for my ugrade and they cant offer me anything better , phone wise..
i was told to wait to jan-feb when some n-series phones become available... i presume n95 8gb ?

My 18 month contract expires on 4 Feb so I just rang Three and asked about upgrades.
Was basically offered the normal tariffs at the normal prices:
Viewty on Mix and Match 300 £24 a month
Viewty with 100 mins and 1,000 sms £20 a month + £99 for the phone
I'll be better off having a new contract getting £30 for being referred by my wife and £32.50 cashback from Quidco.
Which is the best phone available on Three at the moment? I can't decide between the Viewty, 850i or the N95. T3 magazine have got the LG Shine as the best phone for internet browsing on Three in this months mag.

I'd say your best bet for internet on 3 is either the Viewty or the N95. I've had a play with both for browsing and the inbuilt browsers on both are great.
The Viewty is potentially faster for browsing as it can reach speeds of up to 3.6Mbps compared to the N95's 1.8Mbps, but you will need the stylus to browse on the Viewty unless your fingers are like matchsticks! Thankfully it is supplied with one.
Personally, I'd rather have the Viewty, but that's only down to the bad problems I had with my previous N-series handset.

Just upgraded today. It took a few attempts and a PAC request to talk to someone who could actually help but I was offered:
Video Text and Talk 500
300 mins
350 text (including 200 extra)
25 mms
25 video calling mins
£5 downloads
£25 per month
Also getting X-Series silver which they are sorting out as they have to disable my internet max add-on first etc. Grand total of £30 a month was pretty good, £10 less a month than I am paying at the moment. Staff were very helpful, couldn't have done more for me.
Oh yes, I forgot to say this was for a Viewty which was free of charge, on a 12 month contract.
I don't think I could have asked for more. Blows away what any other network could offer and over the last 2 years I have found 3's network to be just as good as anyone else. I look forward to the network sharing with T-Mobile next year, it should mean I rarely have to fall back on a 2G service.

I've read you can not use Viewty as a modem to connet your laptop to net via Xseries or other packages. This can easily be done on Nokias.
Have you tried this on Viewty? I'm really interested to have this confirmed.
Thanks

I've not tried this. I literally had a play with both handsets in the local 3 store.
Although, from what I've read, a 3 branded Viewty can't be used as a modem (I think I read that somewhere on this forum).
So, I'd guess if it's modem use you're after, the Viewty probably isn't for you.

Actually this isn't the case. After I had upgraded the gentleman I was talking to made a point of telling me that the Viewty was one of the phones that supported being used as a modem and it would support their turbo speeds. If I wanted to do that (bearing in mind I have X-Series Silver) then I could have mobile internet as an add-on - costs being the same as the modem costs - but without the need to purchase the modem.
The only downside is you have to disable the X-Series or internet add-on you already have as they aren't compatible apparently (though what they actually mean by that I don't know). I assume this means you wouldn't be able to use the phone for direct net access though I would have thought it would simply come out of your allowance. Still, not a bad idea if you ask me and means you can use you phone as a modem without worrying about getting caught or having to mess about with a PayG SIM.

I've been with 3 for 4 years and they will not offer me anything decent at all this time. On vtt700 with a K850i or N95 they want £35/month and £150 for the handset. Contract ends at end of Febuary, anyone offer any bargaining advice?

Hi,
I'm kind of in the same predicament as you. Called CS who said I could cancel my contract at the start of February, but they should be able to offer a better deal at that time.
So best advice is to cancel your contract and sit back and see what happens.
