Firstly i think the usb modem i have is great for my job as i travel around alot, however, no matter how i try, even after having content control lifted, i cannot connect to msn messenger, yahoo, mirc or any chat sites, i have tried the modem on another laptop and still the same problem, i get good 3g signal and can browse the web great, log onto hotmail but not my email. My family are all on msn and yahoo but cant talk to them while away, anybody got any suggestions please.

SORRY, I HAVE POSTED THIS IN OTHER PLACES IN THESE FORUMS VERY RECENTLY BUT I HAVE SEEN THE QUESTION RAISED ALOT HERE. IT IS A VERY COMMON QUESTION AND THIS SEEMS TO BE THE THING THAT RESOLVES THE ISSUE FOR MOST.
Hello.
A bit slow to respond but i have a feeling you may benefit by specifying dns addresses, certainly for msn stability.
Sometimes that and setting packet size to a capped limit (1300 should suffice) can rectify such issues.
I would settle at first for trying the DNS addresses, this tends to have helped most people that I have come across with this issue so far.
I will try to explain how to achieve this using VMC Lite.
VMC Lite
Go to Settings in the dashboard and select APN
In here select Manual APN and against Access point enter internet, do not worry about username and password, these are no longer required on the Vodafone network, then a little further down the page are boxes labelled DNS1 and DNS2. In the first enter 212.73.32.3 and in the second pop in 212.73.32.67 and then OK your way out of that page, reconnect and test your login to MSN.
If the error that you were getting was 8100030d when trying to log in, this will probably sort you out.
There is one exceptional modem to this rule and this is the E272 - Pebble which needs to be software upgraded in some cases otherwise the settings you set for DNS will be ignored because of a VMC Lite issue on that modem alone.
