I don't want to find a bug, cos I think my phone has been a hell of a lot more stable since updating last week.

But, and I noticed this with V13, certains apps don't close when you press Exit in them.

I originally noticed this with the Call Log and Contacts. In them if you press Exit you end up back at the Active Standby screen, but holding down the menu button and bringing up Handy Taskman, shows that they were still open eating up RAM.

Now, this appears to still be present in V20, and now several more apps seem to do it, such as the Gallery and Music Player. Obviously with Demand Paging the amount of RAM being used is considerably less, yet it does seem worrying that certain apps that you choose to exit somehow manage to stay open.

Also I noticed when I reinstalled Windows Live Messenger from Downloads, even when I quit that, it still somehow remains open in the background and keeps my data connection open for several minutes before closing by itself. If I try to manually close the data connection by holding down the End Call button and saying yes close data connection, several seconds later it starts up again.

All the apps are installed to the phone memory that I use, except TomTom which is on the memory card.

My girlfriends N95 also does the same thing, but this is still on V13 as she doesn't want her phone tampered with to get the new software till O2 release their version (if that ever happens).

Any idea's?

I've noticed that if the application you've just exited from hasn't quite finished closing by the time you've held the menu key down and spotted its still running then it does eventually close after a few seconds - i've just sat trying to get it to do what your saying but i cant get it to happen

If you remove Handy Taskman (or any other aftermarket task manager for that matter. I notice Best Taskman does the same thing) then you'll see that in the standard task manager, things exit immediately instead of hanging around.

It's a bit strange, I wonder if it's some function of the demand paging or something.

My phone has rebooted twice while surfing the net since i installed V20... Also i seem to be getting a delay on incoming voicemail and texts. i know orange have updated this their voice mail, so this might have something to do with it. anyone else having similar problems with voicemail and texts on orange or their N95? :bandit:

Basically the applications mentioned leave a service running, allowing for faster opening.

The standard taskmanager shows them as closed because technically they are it is only a service running not the full application, however other taskmangers like Handy Taskman can detect these services and therefore show them.
