Hello people ,-new here and have an orange branded N95
Reading these forums i found out that there has been 2 firmware updates since my release 11.0.0.26 .I am considering rebranding but phoned CS to see if they knew when either version 12 or 20 would be available -apparently V20.0.0.25 saves on battery life, an issue ive been told is the majority of calls to CS.
The woman whom i spoke with was most helpful, but after speaking to her supervisor i was told that ALL updates should be available ,and Nokia shouldnt be stopping them !
I then advised her that Orange have to add their little "bits " for the firmware to be available to product code 0548170(uk orange) and asked when this was ( she even said her hubby no longer used the N95 cos of battery life!!!)
Again i was told they should be available and that they advised customers to regularily update the firmware (which is impossible without rebranding!)- until orange sort out the issue with nokia. It would have been nice to if and when that would be happening --but then i spose if you give a part time worker with only interset in money too much info -then its a dangerous thing.
I must say at this point Orange CS are the best ive come across with no time constraints and time for a quick natter and a laugh -and you dont feel like they are in a hurry to get the next call to hit targets.
Im interested to know how the orange/nokia firmware updates work -ie when they are available cos it seems CS are working blind and giving false info that they have been given.
I'd rather not debrand ,but really i didnt get any answers
Sorry for ranting

Hi Rich,

I work in the Handset and Service Faults team and we know that a v20.x is available from Nokia, but have no idea if and when our software will be updated to go with this, which admittedly is ridiculously frustrating when there are some known faults with the N95 and s/w version 11.0.026 which we cannot replace handsets for and we are working with Nokia to resolve, blah blah blah.

It seems Nokia are doing their bit, but what's happening on Orange's side, I - like many of my colleagues - have no idea.

I'll have a word with my Gaffer tomorrow to see if he can e-mail anyone who may know what the score is with the updates because I'm keen to move to the latest s/ware with my own N95.

Any news I get, I'll be sure to post and let you know.

Regards,

TheDoc.
