I have never really noticed this until recently, whether my new phone is worse than others i really dont know. Although i suspect looking at forums is that you dont notice it until someone tells you or you read about it. Is this an issues with they new N95 8gig, or is it just with the N95-1? I dont think it warrants an exchange but it is somewhat annoying knowing it is there.

This is buzzing which occurs whenever the screen is lit up? I can't detect it on my N95-1, but it has been a problem on a fair number of them. Since the N95 8GB has a different screen, there's a chance it might not have the error, but I don't own one of those.

Yes it is when the screen is lit up but also when it is not, it only stops when the standby screen is on i.e. When the clock comes on. You do have to put the screen right up to your ear and apparently not everyone can hear it, i know my wife said she cant but i clearly can!

Yes that was a common problem on the n95 screen although the high pitch whine cannot be heard by everyone so even though some people had it, they have never ever noticed it. ;)

There is no whine on my n95 8GB but there was a very faint whine on n95-1.

It can vary from handset to handset. Some people kept exchanging the classic until they got one without whine problem. As far as I'm aware there have no been no reports of the 8GB having the same issue.

Thanks for the replies, I may be getting on to Vodafone about this and some other issues which are now springing up! Every so often when I try to make call there is no ring ad just silence, if I speak I can hear my own voice, my wife said that her phone did ring but she could hear her voice too. I also know that a couple of times last week I would hear a ring and then what sounded like loads of static, it was actually the other person speaking! Vodafone have said there have been issues with 3g, which [I think] it was locked on to at the time. I had a day when texts were just not sending when locked on to 3g, I would have to switch the phone to GSM for them to send.

Oh well - I do think though that I am one of the fussiest people around!

I had all of the above issues with eight various N95 handsets, in the end I gave up and changed to a Nokia E90. I have not had any issues with the new phone.

Not with the E90, it clearly isn't the N95 with it's lack of 5MP camera but it's certainly more reliable with it's 80mb of free memory after boot. Yes, the keypad marks the screen slightly and the camera could be better but the overall build quality is great.

From the moment I had upgraded in April I was on the phone to o2 changing the eight faulty N95 handsets over a six month period, it's been six weeks since I was given a Nokia E90 in exchange and not one call to o2 since.

One of the biggest problems I had when upgrading to v12 software was that the camera was infested with blue flashing lines in low light, anyone else have the same problem?
