Hi guys,

signed up for the vodafone mobile broadband package a couple of months ago and it worked perfectly. Good speeds, no disconnections, basically exactly what I needed.

In the last couple of weeks, sites have started to hang. Even basic sites like facebook and hotmail allow me to access the login page then hang before the next page loads. The status bar just says 'waiting for http:********'. Ive left it running for a good 10 minutes at times with no success.

Been on the phone to technical support over the last two days, clocking up about 3 hours in talktime (which i am probably paying for as Im on orange for my phone). Although very knowledgeable and helpful they havent solved the problem. On their advice, I downloaded Dr TCP, and using the settings in a thread further down the page on this forum I have managed to improve the connection, yet it is still far from perfect.

Obviously Im not too impressed at paying money for a service Im not receiving, so would to know hte best way to proceed.

Hi petercide,

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you're having with your data card and that as of yet we haven't fixed them.

It could be one of a few things causing the issue.

Firstly, it could be down to weak signal in your area, although you've said it worked fine before so unless there's a fault at the moment that's unlikely. Please could you tell me where you live so I can check for any outstanding faults? Town or village address and county is sufficient. You could also try using the card if you're away from home in a different area and see if you have the same problem then.

Secondly, it could be a faulty SIM or data card. It might be worth popping down to your local Vodafone store and trying a replacement SIM in the card to see if that makes a difference. At the same time the store can have a look at the card and see if there's anything wrong with it.

Thirdly, do you have any new antivirus or firewall software you've installed recently? Perhaps it's automatically stopping the connection after an amount of time, causing the issue. You could try the card with another computer to see if you still get the problem. That would rule out that possibility.

Lastly, if none of the above work, it'd be great if you could contact us again and we'll escalate your issue to our network support teams if all other avenues have been exhausted.

I understand you haven't got a Vodafone handset to call us on, as an alternative you can complete the Vodafone Online Contact Form (https://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=Page_Help_ContactUs&pageID=CU_0002) and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Please fill in as many of the details as possible on the form; this will enable us to assist you with your query much more quickly, and also please include the code FIT165 in your message so that your email comes directly to the right team.

I hope this helps!
