This is a very interesting comparison table.

http://3lib.ukonline.co.uk/grid.htm

Just select how important features are to you and it will work out the phone best suited to you! Guess what phone came out on top for me? Yep, Nokia n95 8GB with the classic and close 2nd. :D I couldn't agree more... ;) The iPhone came way back.

So please post what phone you ended up with!

Thanks Mod ;)

It'll be interesting to see if anyone has anything different because the n95 8GB wins in a lot of categories.

Think this is going to be a one horse race :D Same result here - winner N95 8GB, runner up standard N95 and third.... N82

Same here, N95 8GB with the black communicator second I think.

According to that comparison, old N95 has more stable software and is more durable than the 8Gb version?! surely not?!

Well n95 classic had v12 firmware for quite a long time and is very stable. The black version had v10 until just very recently which I doubt has been updated on their site.

To be fair I think v12 is more stable than v10 (n95 8GB) but not the new firmware just released.

I agree it's no way less durable though... It might be just the fact the 8GB is so new he/she hasn't gathered enough info about its build quality yet.

Well the guy who does it is Steve Litchfield, and he knows his stuff.

Yeah, he's had that website since Psion Series 3 times (hence the name 3lib), and now writes for All About Symbian among other places, and has his own regular video Smartphones Show. It's possible that he might have a bias towards Symbian (even the Psion Series 3's OS is a distant precursor of Symbian OS) but I'd say that he's pretty fair.

This is all well and good, but are people answering it really honestly, or are they doing it half thinking 'I know what's the right one for me so I'm going to tailor my answers towards that.'

just a thought.

Hmmmm. Perhaps I got the wrong phone?!!! It says:

1st - Nokia E6l1
2nd - Nokia E65

Never even seen them before! Ah well, the N95 8GB does the job!

This is probably because business features are more important to you. ;)

or more likely because I only really need a phone to be a phone, I just have the most expensive one they offer me because I might as well - it's free!!!

Entered my feature wish list..

....and it told me to come back in 2020 when my ideal phone will finally be available:rolleyes:

On subject of advanced/desirable features:

-about a year ago I read about 3D-LCD displays (using a filter to send a different image to both eyes) coming soon to phone & laptop displays. But this technology never materialised, at least I've never seen one, has anybody else here??

I think the phone of 2020 will also have:

- laser projection keyboards (I'm sure Innovations Catalogue had these in 1997)
- fold out screens??
- built in projector
- laser pointer (so you can 'Terminator kill' people on the morning commute)
- coffee maker
- ability to Sync with Outlook 2003 (!)

Interesting wish list, as I can see all of them coming apart from the obvious coffee maker gag.

Fold out screens have been developed and I'm sure they've actually been demoed but obviously the price point is obstructive. It was possibly a SonyEricsson.

Don't hope too much for the Outlook syncing though...

Cant say i agree with most of the comments, as my answer is that there isn't an ideal phone.

You can tell yourself its ideal but they all have their problems. Its ideal for one person but not the next, when you think you've found the right phone, use it for a while, you'll find faults.

Then you'll get another model out to do the job better, then you become an upgrade sucker, upgrade everything, get your ideal phone, nokia will have another for u by xmas however it wont be ideal either, otherwise people will love their phones so much, they will spend they money elsewhere instead of upgrading.

The N95 expensive, you get so much

GPS (its crap, try holding your phone upside down, bad design, lacks settings & pay to use it even more moeny)
5 Megapixel camera, quite good, but its only a phone, really cant replace your camera, does a decent job through, when it work, if it dont crash & if your battery lasts when you really need to take that picture perfect moment.

Wicked video quality, i cant complain.

Wat else, urm nothing too much else, symbian cool, sort of, all else is rather standard (& @ that price.:cross-eye )
