it's coming ladies and gents! the all important liberate refresh!

new tariffs and new phone choices, s'all good. It's only taken them a while to realise how crap the staff plan is in comparisson to what CPW and P4u can do.
(40% off a standard tariff).

Come Feb... we'll all be relishing our new cheaper staff phones

Hi, i have just passed my probation, and i have yet to pick my liberate phone and tarrif, if i pick mine now, will i be able to change to the new liberate tariff options and phones that come out in Feb?

Thanks!

Do you know if there will be changes to crossnet?

fev
26-11-2007, 06:18 PM
no, you'll be tied for 12 months like everyone else into the contract you agree to when you fax off the form.

In regards to x-net and the actual information, sorry but only a select few know

Ok, so basically i should wait till Feb, before i get my liberate phone right? So until then, is there a pay as you go liberate or something? Thanks (id ask my manager, but then i dont want to appear to be only interested in the perks, and not the job!)

fev
26-11-2007, 09:25 PM
don't worry, all i've heard from the staff is "when's my liberate arriving!"

it's worth sticking it out, luckily my 9 months is up in feb so i'm in with a chance of the fancy new tariffs.

HOWEVER: Our lord *** *** declared at the managers christmas roadshow that it was happening in feb so if we add the standard orange random time warp... we're looking at august some time :P

Got my upgrade due a couple months after the Refresh, so hoping the changes are for the better - they said that last time and look what we got then.

it's coming the end of may. But i don't work for retail anymore so anymore than that and I can't help i'm afraid.

ryanmcallister
20-04-2008, 04:30 PM
yeah i was at a business meeting with sean, the trainer for business in the north east.

he said that we will get briefed on it by the 1st of may and it should be happening by mid-end of may.

they are also incorporating free broadband for employees into the deal.

everyone will get a new phone no matter how long they have had their liberate contract.

WOW! So can i just check something here...i am yet to order my liberate..as i thought i should wait for the new liberate to come through..but if i order my liberate now so i get a new phone and then when it comes to end of may do i get ANOTHER new phone?! I was talking to one of the my work mates and she said the same happened to her last time round..she had ordered her liberate and then 6 weeks later, a the new liberate came and she got another phone!! Can anyone just confirm this will happen? as then im going to order mine RIGHT NOW!!!

Thanks!

ryanmcallister
21-04-2008, 05:49 PM
i cant confirm anything, there might be exclusions so i cant guarantee anything as yet.

it sounds good what your work mate got last time, but who knows they might make it so that doesnt happen again and theyre not losing money.

i asked sean (cant remember his surname) the same thing and he thought there might be exclusions, ive not ordered my liberate yet but i think ill just wait, unless someone from internal can confirm what the story is.

its about bloody time they refreshed liberate anyway its been such a drag! first it was november, then february, HOPEFULLY something might happen now.

thanks

A message from Sian on the intranet today said it's coming mid-june, and there'll be info on how we can sign up for it on the intranet in the next couple of weeks.

Keep watching!

(I'm hoping they'll give me a blackberry :))

wow, amazing to find an active forum still discussing this. I've worked in retail for just over a year and have worked in 4 different stores (due to uni transfers and covering absences). Anyway, was wondering, does anyone know if when the 12 months contract (lib A for example) ends, is it possible to cancel and then take out a new liberate? i hear this from my ass. manager. Obv i'd have a new number but cudnt care less if i get a new phone. Any idea??? i'll probly wait for the refresh and see what happens. Waiting on the N96 (probly a year knowing orange) as for discounted broadband, unless orange pay me to have it i think i'll give it a miss. I think fellow retailers will agree things went horribly wrong since the broadband move and now they are in a whole they cant get out of, and its getting worse. Oh, finally, wouldn't suggest k850i, not all its cracked up to be from both first hand and customer feedback experience.

Right, so here's the deal: I start at Orange in about a month and I've received the usual Liberate form to complete. The thing is, I can't really decide which option to go with and the charges to X-net numbers are really not competitive (IMHO).

Is anybody any closer to knowing whether the liberate packages are going to improve on the X-net calls?
Also, can anyone suggest which package I opt for. I'm currently with another network and getting 500min (anytime any network) and 100texts on a 12month contract.
It might be worth mentioning that I'm also entitled to a business line from the start. Don't know how/if that impacts on my decision.

And while I'm at, any phone suggestions? The N73 I've got at the moment is getting more and more annoying with each passing day (in short, it's the worst phone I've had since the NEC from the mid 90's!). I've got my eye on the N82.

(Since this is my first post I should probably say something like "Hi! I'm a newbie. Be gentle.") Thanks for your thoughts.

Hello! First of all im sure you have wait until after your 3 months probation period, only then can you order your liberate phone!! So good luck with probation!

There has been talk of a new liberate staff tariff coming, as you will have read on the earlier posts. This is purely speculation, and unconfirmed but we think its going to be the normal animal packages we have on offer, but at a discounted rate, so as you can see, there will be alot more mins and texts!

Right now you do not have a choice of ANY handset you want, it must be on the list of handsets available on the liberate tariff! So go onto the intranet at work, and look it up there if the n82 is available, my guess is it might not be!...however again, this whole list thing might change when the new liberate comes.

And finally! DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THIS LIBERATE REFRESH IS COMING!! Iv waited 4 months for this stupid thing to happen!!! It had better be worth it!

nextprodigy
27-05-2008, 12:23 PM
think the n82 was at the list last time i checked, might well have been a price on it tho and again could well change with the refresh. which we are told should arrive mid june so not long to wait. I have also heard through the grapevine about the animals, at a possible half-price??? not bad has to be sed but am enjoying my 37p phone bill this month on current lib A. guess we have to wait and see

billbennett
31-05-2008, 04:24 PM
So here we have it, the new tariff!

There will be two new choices for staff to choose from.

With both the new plans detailed below, all handsets will be available at no charge.

Liberate A+ will be the same as the existing direct Animal plans. However, line rental will be at a 90% discount. In addition, on-net calls will be free (limited to 1 minute a month), and there will be a 99p per day account maintenance charge. Itemised billing will be chargable and compulsory for audit purposes. In order that all employees can experience new products and services, compulsory £5 Orange World bundles, £10 TV bundles, and other bundles as decided from time to time will apply, chargable at the regular consumer rate.

Liberate B+ will carry no line rental, however handsets will be chargable at the current Pay As You Go consumer price plus a £30 connection fee. Calls will be charged at 20p/min and 10p/text. All customers will get free calls to any number beginning 999, 112, 450, or 453.

Both the new tariffs above will have enforced upgrades after 6 months to the Motorola F3, at a compulsory cost of £99.99 to the staff member.

:p :p

Hey, for those who are looking to get a Blackberry on your liberate...NO blackberry's will be available on the new liberate ranges!! I know this because **** *** visited a local Orange store, the managers their asked if Blackberry's would be available because most of their staff are waiting for one! She said she cant say much but will tell him 100% that the Blackberry will not be on liberate!! Ahhhh well, dam!

Im looking to take out the 8120 on just the blackberry data package, so thats £10.50 odd a month right? Does anyone know if the prices for that is going to go down in July? Iv heard there will be changes in July to some prices and plans?

ok so when is this likely to happen?
cos i really want an n82 so i was just gonna get one tomorrow at work cos im sick of waiting.
i was also at a blackberry training product playground today and the blackberry rep said that itll be a while more before liberate is sorted out cos its defo gonna be on liberate, theyre just trying to sort out whos paying for it, blackberry or orange!

ahhh!

Well that's promising news, hopefully the decision was originally this:

||| Who's going to pay for the BlackBerry add-on?
||| A) Research In Motion / BlackBerry
||| B) Orange
||| C) The Employees

and hopefully option C has been struck off the list!

Although with:

100% that the Blackberry will not be on liberate!!

I don't know what to believe...

Well according to the Orange News-newsletter thingy we get instore, its aimed to be launched at the start of July, however the staff will be able to order late June, or they will become aware of the new liberate package late June, something like that! So wait! You have waited this long (like me!) might aswell wait the extra 2 weeks now!

In regards to the blackberry being on liberate my area manager even confirmed its not going to be on it, he had a conference call with some one high up, forgot the guys name now! Lets just wait and see now!! I just hope the new tariffs are not useless!...but I dont see us getting out liberate phones before August...because EVERYONE is entitled to a new phone, the liberate team will have like a huge back log or something, so even if we order in July im assuming it will get to us at August?! I hope not!

any news guys ? i mean they have got to beat 40% discount for cpw staff !

I was talking to a 150 csr recently asking if the refresh was confirmed for July while we were on hold for another dept about it, he was suprised I knew of Liberate LOL he was saying his bills were £80 to £150 a month due to X net rate, think he was paying the top rate as his basic so he could upgrade earliest, i said fine do that your paying already but get a new Animal plan & leave a voicemail on said Liberate number with new number, he then asked " can I do that ? you know just leave it running the basic cost of contract I agreed too ? "

I said " I cant confirm a thing (laughing) as I have never/dont work for Orange & I was merely suggesting, but you should ask around the call centre , hint hint mate " he duely thanked me & this guy was not one of the clueless csr you all find in your departments, he was well up on services/products but unaware of fact of Liberate, got impression he thought i would be a breach of his Liberate contract to do an Animal, lol

So guys not all CSR's are fully aware...pass the word round ! Really liberate the staff ;)

Not sure if you've really looked into it or thought about it.

I am personally amazed at how crap the new liberate scheme is for Orange employees compared to the other networks offerings.

I will highlight the following points:

1) Initial phone value of upto £140 (that's G600 at best ppl) obviously depending on how the value is worked out.

2) Still no cross network minutes included. They seem to assume that as our primary phone, all our friends are on Orange. How niave. Other networks include x-networks why can't we?

3) You can only upgrade if you save for it. And then a maximum of £132. Great. I can get a C902 next year :glasses:

4) The people who get company phones get an imeasurably better deal. Hows that for equality, managment? Not only do they get a "FREE phone" but they are also "entitled to a replacement handset after 12 months". Their tariff also includes FREE personal calls and FREE SMS.

5) Broadband packages are barely better than the converged options available normally, thanks Orange for a STAFF discount (£2 on Starter, £2 on Select, Nothing on Max)

6) LiveRadio, if someone can explain to anyone in my store (8 of us) what this is it would be amazing

On a lighter note they seem to have retained a few good things:

a) Dongle Offer - Yes that is what we were excepting / needed

b) Inclusive Orange Care on liberate tarrifs - Need I say anymore

So overall as a summary here is what they've done:

Reduced the selection of phones and decreased the costs to call cross network. Removed the facility to upgrade to any handset only one that you save for.

Well done Tom and your agenda. You hype the release of the brand new liberate tarrif. Reward your managers well and leave the people who actually do your work for crap. Interesting to see that although retail accounts for a large number of the UK Orange workforce he is visting very few stores on his tour. I wonder why...?

F****** IM WELL Pissed OFF!! I waited 10 odd months for this crap?! Does that mean we cant even order handsets like the N82, or C902 etc, because they will defo be over £140 wont they? And what, we STILL dont have x net mins? Come on, this isnt even a refresh, this is utter rubbish.

Whats the chance I can quickly fill out my liberate order form for a N82 and send it off, 1st class, on monday morning, so thay have tues and wed to process it on the old liberate scheme, and they dont charge me for the N82? will that work?

I dont really care so much about the home broadband, wasnt going to get it anyway, maybe USB broadband would have been a bit more tempting, but if the "new" liberate is this bad i dont think the usb will be any better, if we are lucky we might get it for £14.99 and save 1 WHOLE PENNY every month...which saved up gives you a whooping 18pence off when you upgrade lol!!!!

Do you think the phones will be priced properly, like an N82 for £200 odd pounds, or will they price them at a special staff rate, so theres a slight chance I could get it for the £140 credit?

I WISH i had just ordered my liberate months ago, instead of waiting....damn my luck!!!

No sorry VEX the dongle is going to cost us £8 a month it was in the magazine but i cut it off when taking the picture.

I rekon that the staff phones will be charged at the price they pay for them (roughly 180 for n82) as before on liberate they were charging £44 for the n82.

As an Owl user I suppose I have less to complain about than most. And I suppose it's certainly better than nothing.
I'm trying to do the maths to see how many minutes/texts I'll actually get for £30 worth of usage at the new rates.

X-net texts 100
Landline min 450
X-net min 200
Picture texts 10

This seem reasonable? Bear in mind I'll need to use it for business (obviously!)

Just the Nokia N series does not have a great rep, but the features packed into it are pretty amazing, but then it looks ugly and the c902 looks nice! What to do, What to do??!!!

Has anyone here used both of them, or owns either, which one and what do you think of it?

I got the N82 last week and first impressions certainly indicate that it's miles better than my N73. :D Speed of functions are MUCH quicker too. Only niggle is that the right earpiece/headphone isn't as loud as the left - might just require a software update to correct. The GPS is going to come in extremely useful next weekend. The photos taken with the camera are excellent. Comes with a 2gb card. Only way I'll upgrade from this is possibly by getting an HTC or maybe a Blackberry. (Although I don't know whether I'll be entitled to a new phone under the new contracts considering I got my phone so recently.)

As a business user however, I'm peeved that we've lost line 2. This means I'm going to be bothered with business calls when I'm on leave, etc. :(

I AM... an Orange retail employee, thought I'd join in the festivities with you fellow sufferers under the powers of the Almighty Tom.

Tom who, due his crazy new tariff, (which by the way SUCKS!) has actually made everyone worse off than before, minus managers.

I got a Viewty on the last Liberate, cost me £15. I had to have it on PAYG as I'm not yet 18, but that was no biggy. THE SAME PHONE NOW COSTS 4 TIMES MORE!!!! Where's the sense in that Mr Alexander??? Where did you get the idea to sell us these phones at Cost Price, meaning we pay more than a blooming Customer does!

On top of that, I don't think I can have a new Liberate, as I'm still under 18 and on the new sign up form, it specifically says, you must be 18 years old. So don't know how they are doing that one.

Do you know what Tom, give me the £140 contribution, I'll go into my store, and get a good old fashioned PAYG handset that way, least I'll get more choice, cheaper.

I AM.... NOT IMPRESSED!

these new prices are rediculous.

And the fact that because i hung back and didnt order my phone till now that im not allowed another one.

I wish i had just got one in february when i turned 18 then id have got another now!

The new staff phones are infinately worse than other networks deals

BUT remember

we get paid alot better than them

orange is the best basic wage (£6.95/hr on gold yehhhhh)

and has one of the best commission structures.

Iv gone ahead and ordered my phone...does anyone know roughly how long it takes, as I rang them up telling them i was on orange pay as you go, so i want to keep my mobile number, they said they could transfer it, but il loose all my credit. Hence why im down to £2 credit on my sim, and dont want to top up!! Any idea?

I ported from another provider and it took about a week for it all to go through once Orange had my PCA number. Getting your new phone may however prove to take a little longer, considering there are going to be thousands of us applying for a liberate phone.
:tired: I foresee backlog problems...

The handsets will start being delivered on the 5th of August (according to the Intranet site) and will be no later than mid September (14th I think). So I wouldn't be too worried yet....

Distance selling regulations mean that they have to let you have at least 7 days to make sure the phone is to your liking until you decide to keep it!

Although Distance Selling Regs would only apply if it's a sale. I'll bet it's actually a gift (benefit in kind) from the company, and you've paid however-much to buy a TRY 1 MIN VIDEO CALL bundle or something... think what 3 do with their MnM Videopack bundles ;)

Hey just to let you all know, rang up the internal cs and found out we have a 7day trial period with our liberate phones, so from the date on the invoice you have 7 days to ring them up and swap your phone for a different model if you dont like it!! Im still seeing if i can get used to the n82, other wise il send it back!! (ohh yea, they have started sending out the liberate phones, well alot of people in our store have had theirs including me)!!:)

Intranet says now that upgrades for staff in retail stores will commence on 9th September.

I think I'm going to go and hibernate in a hole for a month.

or in line with the new marketing campaign. "I am.. now working for someone else"

lol i love that quote. It does seem like the staff plans are a little on the small side from what I have read.

Working for T-Mobile this is what i get on staff plan:

Free Line Rental
£50 Credit (Flext Allowance)
5p a Min Calls (any net)
2p a Text (any Net)
Free Voicemail
30mins Free Video Calling
Free International Option
Free BlackBerry Email (if you ask)
Unlimited 3G/HSDPA (can be used for Skype, as a modem... anything legal!)

All you have to do is buy the phone from a large list but the phone then becomes yours. if you leave the company you keep the phone and they convert you onto a contract of your choice with discount for life at 50% unless you choose to cancel.

The best staff deal was when i was at 3. Either a 6120 or W660 with anything you wanted (apart from international calls) free. Free downloads, free MMS, free video, the lot

Yes that may sound good but Orange is a premium brand :) unlike T-Mobile UK

none of the UK ops are PREMIUM, I have been on every UK network since 2002.... 3 brought better deals/competition to the UK market - whilst priceplan costs per month slipped, customer care slipped by the minute......
