Hi,

I've been with Vodafone for ten years roughly, and up till now have been relatively happy with the service received.

I phoned up to get a phone upgrade, which I did - the Nokia N95 8gb. Bit of kerfuffle getting the phone - VF kept promising delivery dates that came and went, but eventually got the phone, and VF did compensate me for the trouble.

My price plan was upgraded as well... which I was told was fine, checked out with my usual usage, and upgrade agreed early - renewal due May 08.

I have since advised VF that I was not happy with the contract and been told that it has now been renewed (i was not made aware I was renewing contract - just upgrading early) and I would have to pay Line Rental until 2009.

I am extremely unhappy. I just want shot of VF now, and don't have the money to waste paying £400.00 for nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Carrie

So you got a new handset yet you didn't think you were entering another contract?

You have 14 days with a contract where you can return it after this the contract stands.

Did you think they would just give you a phone for nothing?

I really don't see what Vodafone have actually done wrong here.

well call me stupid but yeah, I just thought I was getting an upgrade, which would then run over the same term as my original contract.

When you uprgrade you enter into a new contract. It is the same for all networks.

As strileforce says, you are given a subsidised handset and the network needs to get that money back

Carrie, I do feel sorry for you. Not that Voda have done anything wrong. When ever you are going to upgrade your handset you must always do your home work first

1) Always research the handsets that are in the pipe line. (THIS IS A MUST)
2) Don't just walk in off the street and think I'll have that one.
3) Never sign up to a 18 or 24 Month contract. Your only regret it later (No Point having a 2 year old mobile.
4) Always look for the tariff that gives you the most for as little as possible.
5) Always look at the networks that give you the best coverage in the areas you frequent
6) Always sign up to the network that doesn't restrict the usage of the handset as the manufactuer intended. *Voda and Orange have blocked certain features such as VOIP. This means that you can't use internet companies that give you free calls on your mobile! Not good!!!!!

7) don't believe the Hype! read read read and then read some more.
8) Don't trust the instore salesmen. Trust yourself and only yourself!
