All I can hear is what sounds like a load of static when they speak, it does not happen all the time, only sometimes, twice yesterday in fact. I used to have problems when I rang someone, I would sound very distorted but I could hear the other person.

The phone (N95) I have now is a replacement, which kind of makes me think it is to do with the 2g-3g switch over, I'm pretty sure my other phone was permanantly on GSM and not dual mode. My N70 used to do this about two years ago, I would have thought that it woulkd have been resolvedby now.

Does anyone else have similar problems when in dual mode?

I have heard many people have this problem on there N95
& it seems to be any N95 from any network that has there branded firmware one.

It is a firmware problem unless you change the firmware to a generic one
which does solve this problem. But if you do this it is at ur own risk....

Yes that's why I am on the generic firmware, I de branded my phone so I could get the most out of it and avoid crashes and the likes, which many people seem to be having problems with on branded ones. Although I still appear to be having the problem mentioned above.

This happens, even on the latest generic firmware. It's just an "N95 thing" - sometimes you can hear the caller and they can't hear you, or vice-versa.

Taking the battery out and reinserting it usually sorts this. This usually happens to me after the N95 reboots itself for no reason at alll.

thats very unusual for a latest generic n95 firmware. Yes your right changing firmware to a generic one
does help the handset to work 100%. but this problem that ur experiencing
must be a fault with handset itself.

from experience with debranding a friends N95 he had the same issue till the firmware was changed.
I dont know what else to say except must be a real handset issue problem....

I don't think it is a handset issue, it only happened twice yesterday and I have had the phone since Thursday 15th November, both times it happened it was with people on Orange. I'm sure my other handset was permanently set to GSM only, given the problems I had with my N70, and this does appear to happen when there is low 3G reception.

I guess the only solution would be to see how it goes over the next week or so, disable/enable certain things in the settings to identify for sure what it is for a fix/workaround. Also set to GSM only and see if that resolves it! If it is something else I will be sending it back.

This usually happens after you have been using the 'Loudspeaker' function. A simple restart of the phone will sort it.
