Both me and the wife have N95's (me on T-Mob & her on 3).

I've been messing about with them trying to get my MAP's application to send it's current location to her phone via SMS.

Do you all remember the pre-launch advertisement where the guy sends the location of the cafe he is in to the girl and she finds him?

Well it doesn't seem that easy... Has anyone got this to work?

When I choose my current location in MAPS and then click "Use this Place" > Send > Via Text Message it just sends the address and postcode to my wife's phone
There is no way to click on the info to bring it up on her MAPs and then route to it????

Has anyone found a way to get this working?

If you send someone a text, then they just get the address - not very interesting. However, if you send a multimedia message or an email, a landmark file is attached (note for an MMS, the recipient seems to have to go Options > Objects and select the landmark file). Opening the landmark file displays its location, including the latitute and longitude, and in the Options menu you can save it to your Landmarks, show it on the map, or route to it.

There's also software called Viewranger which has the buddy beacon facility, but this is more for OS style maps not street navigation type things.

Thanks!

I've just noticed the SMS menu item (DOH!:squareeye )

Now all we need is the ability to "track" people LIVE. I did get something in my inbox a few weeks ago about a free Symbian GPS tracking system that works with the N95, I can't remember the name of it though...
