Hi all,

I have just upgraded to an lg Viewty. Do I need a 3g sim card to get 3g speed. Or will my 18month old sim card still pick it up . Also is 3g hsdpa supported with o2.

Im not very clued up on mobile technology. I apologize if I make no sense.

You'll need to call O2 customer services for a new SIM unless it says 3G on the SIMs carrier (the bit you punched the mini card out of) as the 3G SIMs contain the new 3G encryption keys and settings needed to access the network.

This should be free of charge.

Hope this helps

As for hsdpa I believe that this is still under trial and the necessary software upgrades have not been rolled out on the network yet from what I've read on this forum (I have no connection to O2 other than being a customer who still has a 2.75G handset and is awaiting delivery of a new Sony Ericsson K800i)

Hope this helps.
