Sorry, not 3G! Is EDGE enabled in your area on O2? I notice the E symbol coming and going on my N95 as I travel around Newcastle and various parts of north east England. It's not on consistently so I suspect O2 have upgraded the software on base stations they could, leaving others that may require hardware updates.

Heh, I usually get a mix of all 4 down in the south.

In the space of a few minutes, I went from 3.5g, to 3g, to Edge and then down to regular GPRS. All on the same connection.

I'd say O2's network coverage is getting better, but its still lagging behind the others.

I wasn't aware O2 had switched HSDPA on, I'll try it here later.

Well my N95 detects HSDPA and displays 3.5g when it connects, but it certainly isn't at HSDPA speed. A speedtest responded that it was only running at 131 k/s, which is a long way away from the supposed 300+ k/s HSDPA is specced at.

The K800i is not an HSPA capable device (I know this as I have one) so you wont get anything quicker than what you get already even when the software upgrades are applied to the local node B's.

You'll need a K850i for HSDPA.

A K750i is a GSM phone and so cannot access 3G networks

3.5G is the same as HSDPA (just a term coined by the industry indicating its one step up from the first generation of 3G which was limited in UK deployments to a maximum of 384 Kbps) and so no you cant get it on a K800i, sorry.

I use my phone as a phone and to text mainly so the lack of HSDPA support doesn't really bother me.

I do like the improved call quality on 3G as opposed to GSM.

Depends what you want to use your phone for I suppose, don't be tempted to use it as a substitute for your broadband connection though or you might end up with a rather large bill.
