does 3 really provide unlocking codes for free?

they left a msg saying I should call costumer service.. so I guess I'll be calling them later.. international calls are just so complicated (I live in usa) >.<

Where on the website does it say they will supply the code for free? Everywhere i've read they say they'll do it for a fee, an admin fee of fifteen pounds. Have used this service to unlock my exs old three N70, very straight forward and helpful.

i called 3 today. and they told me that what i said its correct, they give you the unlocking code for free.

oh heres the link. to the main 3 website. this its my phone click on features and it says that right at the bottom of the paragraph ;)

well i dont know about the nokia N70. but it says here under N73 and every phone i checked that they do it for free.

This forum is UK based and the links you posted are not to the 3UK web site which is where some confusion has occurred over 3's unlocking charge.

Unfortunately in the UK 3 do not unlock phones for free and they charge £15-00 for the unlock code plus you have to be out of your min contracted period.

thought i should add this, wen my freidn was offered a renewal deal at end of his 18 month contract the cs rep was throwing "existing phone will be unlocked free" with the new price plan offer. not sure about this but to save a few pennies one could jus get them unlocked at "dodgy phone shops" got my k610i unlocked for 9 quid.
