I'm on PAYG with T-Mobile at the moment, thinking of moving over to 3 with the £15 300 Mix and Match plus the £5 Internet Max addon. I've got an N73 which I love, but I'd like to get an E65 (for the wifi). 3 only offer the E65 on this package if you also get their £5 per month video call package, which I'd never use and don't want.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get this phone without the video package, on this tariff? Basically I only want to pay £20 per month including internet. The bloke in the shop said it wasn't, but he also told me that the 6120 had wifi, so I have my doubts about him :-) I'd have thought that it'd be worth it to 3 to get a new contract customer.

Hello,
just let you know that the 6120 DOESN'T have WI-FI.

Thanks - I researched it and discovered that. Nice phone, but no wifi.
When I was in a 3 store recently and if I understood them correctly as I was not paying that much attention.
You could have any phone on the basic £15-00 a month tariff, without paying the extra montly fee for the phone and video calls. But one had to pay for the additional cost of the phone (not sure if this included any video calls) in one payment, I think they quoted it would be around £230-00 for the N95 as that was the phone I was interested in.

The £ 15 mix and match tariff includes a basic handset for free, if you want a better handset you are meant to able to either pay some cash up front for the handset or pay monthly through the video pack (this is because under consumer credit law 3 cannot charge you monthly for the handset so they get around this by offering the video pack which is pretty useless as it is only 3 to 3 video calls) and this is why you can get a 6120 or k800 for £ 15 a month without video pack if you want a more expensive handset then there are different levels for the video pack (eg for a e65 you need to take 20 mins of video calls for £ 5, if you have a n95 the handset is still free but you have to pay £30 per month which seems to have gone up from £27 per month as the ad that I seen in the paper the other day said £ 30 pm).

Thanks for explaining it - it all makes sense now. I'll try dropping in and asking for one at the end of the month - no harm in trying my luck. I couldn't see the price for buying the handset outright anywhere on the site though.

I did notice a local Three store had a flyer with an E65 marked as "Free on a £15 tariff".
I was told it would be a refurbished handset.
I do not know if the Nokia warranty would still apply.
£90 cheaper than paying for Video minutes you will not use.
£209 cheaper than PAYG.
It depends on your point of view regarding refurbs.

Well I am not sure if it would be the same with a Nokia handset but I cant see any reason why not.
I current contract was taken out on a refurbished Sony Ericsson k800 and 3 months after I had it the handset developed the 'Operation Failed' problem trying to access the games and apps folders. 3 told me to take it to a Sony Ericsson service centre and they still fixed it at no cost to me so I think the warranty still stands

A refurb would do me if they've got one in. I'll ask in the store.
