My N73 has the original firmware that came with it some 9 months ago and I notice that the Three site has a link to the Nokia site to check for upgrades.
There is an upgrade available so the question is....
Is it worth upgrading? My phones a bit slow and flakey at times but it works ok.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
In my opinion it is best to update the firmware, as the latest version will have fixes and updates to previous bugs and software.
When you update the firmware it will wipe anything you have installed on the phone, like your contacts, music down loads etc, I would backup your phone before you do update.
If you have down loaded any games or music content from 3 I don't know how updating the firmware affects these when you do a restore from backup, as to if they will run or play.
With 3's firmware updates I don't know if it contains the x-series applications. While I did not do a update on my 6120 I did do a full reset and had to re-download the x-series apps.
When preforming a firmware update you do this at your own risk, as occasionally it can go wrong. If your phone is under 2 years old (since April 2005) it should be covered under warranty via a nokia service centre. Some members have reported problems when restoring the back up, there are a few threads discussing this problem, which appears to mainly happen when the firmware has been changed from branded to generic.

I did mine yesterday, the upgrade went fine, but then when i went to restore all my contacts/messages/notes/pictures it fried my phone. Now all it says is
"Phone Start up failed. Contact Retailer"
  :lick: :( :( :( :( :(

With the phone switched off you could try resetting / formating the phone by doing the following.
Press and hold the green key, star and 3 simultaneously, then power the phone on. Keep the keys pressed until 'Formatting' appears on the phone screen.
When I tried it on one of my phones it took me several goes before I got the formatting screen to show.
Looking at other threads, some members who have changed their firmware to generic and then tried to restore the branded backup have had problems with their phones crashing.
