apologies if this has been posted before.
I've just upgraded my handset from a SE k800 to the LG u990 viewty. When i'm on a call whilst at home i am constantly getting calls dropped half way through whilst the handset switches to roaming. I had no probs like this whilst i was using my SE.
Does anyone know if this is a problem with the handset or a setting that needs changing. Unfortunately i can't go back to my SE as it decided to take up swimming.
Cheers

I had terrible problems with the u990 on 3 at my house. It was constantly switching between 2G and 3G: dropping calls, failing to find a network, having terrible line quality, emergency calls only, etc. However, when I went from 3 to T-mobile, still with the u990, the difference was huge - no problems at all. Was your old phone on 3?
I think that 3 only switches away from its own network as a very last resort, and that its quality threshold is too low. My phone kept on trying to connect on 3G, even when the signal was too low/unreliable to provide any kind of meaningful service. And on networks that have both 2G and 3G capabilities you can force the phone onto 2G through its settings - functionality that 3 disable.
Hope this helps...

If you are with 3 on your old phone and now getting bad service on the u990, then it might be a phone problem too:confused:
I would ring 3 and tell them about it;)

i'm having problems with my U990 since upgrading. i have the U990 and a Simfree N91 both used on 3. with both phones side by side, the N91 shows full signal strength while the U990 struggles to retain 1-2 bars

Thanks for your replies. My old SE K800 was on 3 and had no probs with signal at my house. Not sure if it is something to do with the u990 being HDSPA able as it keeps switching between 2.5, 3 and HDSPA. Its like it can't make its mind up to which signal is stronger.
Not to confident in phoning three as when i last called them about windows live messenger not downloading i didn't get a response that made any sense. I was told it was working when it wasn't!
Other than the signal problems i am impressed with the phone, it seems well thought out.
