You should get much more than just 1-2hrs music. I remember getting about 12 hours out of it even when I played music for a couple of hours.

Are you playing it on loudspeaker or headphones and approximately at what volume?

Using the headphones or full volume.

If the battery has been mistreated you will need to give it a 7 day constant charge revitalisation programme before you can reasonably be expected to assess it's condition.
I did this recently with a battery that I had been given and it doubled in life.

Whatever is running,as long as you are on charge, you are working the battery.
When done keep it on charge whenever possible.
