Hi guys,

Just want to ask if it is possible to unlock the N95 provided by orange. Is it available from the shops, or only through orange.

Do you know the prices in the shops if possible. Or is there a free way to do it.

Thanks

Its is quite difficult to unlock the N95 unless you go to the Network provider. If Orange will do it for 20 quid, as I believe they do, that is your best bet.

I've just got a Sony ericsson from Orange and it was not locked to the network. I've got an O2 sim in and it works fine.

Did your phone come from Orange direct or was it brought from CPW. I know that CPW sell a lot of phones which are not locked to any network. But if you buy them from the network they tend to be locked.

Hi Andy thanks for the reply, do u know if orange unlock it at anytime, or I need to finish the contract as 3 do. Thing that I just started my contract with them.

Don't know about Nokia. I thought orange stopped locking them again.

No, I'm afraid I don't know. Before you ring Orange it seems like a good idea from the other posts to see if it is locked first.

I got 2 pay monthly phones from CPW a N95 and a Prada, the N95 on orange and the Prada on O2, both came unlocked and not a sticker on either :)

I beleive that CPW have all the phones in a huge warehouse. They are all unlocked, so when they sell one they just bundle it with the appropriate SIM. Could be wrong though.

Just thought I'd let people know that when I asked Orange to unlock my N95 (contract expired a month ago) they gave me the usual "it's £20, can take between 2 days and 2 months to get the code back from nokia" spiel. Had the same thing with my N80 so wasn't surprised really. But when my girlfriend asked Vodafone to unlock her phone the next day (contract expired 6 weeks ago), she gave her imei number over the phone and received the unlocking code straight away FREE OF CHARGE!!

So does anyone know if it is actually Nokia that issues these codes to the Networks themselves, or whether the networks have these codes already?

From what has been previously posted elseware some network providers do have to order the codes from nokia when some one requests the unlocking code.

As voda recently changed their policy on locking phones to the network, in that their contract phones are no longer supplied locked, I am not sure about their payg phones.

They may have obtained the unlock codes in readiness for customers asking for the unlock codes. Voda now provide the unlock codes for free on contract phones that have been supplied locked, at any time during the contracted period. Where previously they may have charged £20-00 during the first 12 months.

Very easy - use a "turbo sim".

it isn't unlock per se but you can use any sim with the phone
