View Full Version : Dual Slider Function
Does anyone else think it's a bit daft that you have to slide the screen all the way up and then back down to get out of widescreen mode?
For example sometimes my phone accidently slides in my pocket and goes into widescreen mode. If you slide it back in to place, it stays in widescreen mode, so u hav 2 slide it all the way up 2 get it back to normal (and then back down 2 close the slider). All this unnecessary slider activity will just contribute to loosening of the slider!
Wouldn't it have been better if there was a dedicated button (perhaps in place of the preview key) that let u change between modes?

But then you would lose the funky slide in the pub motion. 'Hey, check this out.'
On my N80 I used 2 have a program called nLock, it enabled the keypad to be locked by using a desktop shortcut/soft key.
So if there was a program for the N95 that allowed a "change display mode" function to be assigned to a desktop shortcut/soft key, that would be brilliant!
Does anyone reckon a future firmware update will include an auto-rotate feature using the N95s built-in accelerometer?

There is already a program (RotateMe i think) to do that in development - a recent thread mentioned it. Will probably be out before end of the year.
Yep, that's a 3rd party application. I wonder thou if Nokia will enable it on a firmware update and make it an official feature of the phone...

In all honesty, after using the dual slide for a few weeks I found that I never actually use the music buttons on the top slide apart from when it accidentally slides in my pocket.
It would be nice to see an option in a future firmware revision to use the accelerometer though.

Yer same ere.. at first i used to use the media buttons loads.. now i just dont.. and from time to time it shuffles around in my pockets.
The slidder is more of a stress reliever for me now.. as i tend to jus frantically open and close it lol

i dont ming the orientation changes - since i donated for roateMe 2.0 i've got the auto-orientation-updating-goodness that comes with it.
what i cant stand is the media launcher. it's a performance killer. even with images disabled and such, it just kills me when it opens up by mistake.
