Hi
Just picked up a new N95 from O2 (had to take my K850i back.... driving me insane :( ) This came bundled with an 8GB sandisk card. All seems fine, but when the card is in the phone it takes forever to start up! Is this normal? BTW, it came with v.12 software, so O2 do have a version, but not sure when it will be on NSU. Ta!

I think it's been posted before that it takes ages to work with the 8gb cards.

I did a search, but couldn't find it! Nice of O2 to bundle it with something that slows it down! :D Says on the box that the maps should be on the card, but they're not! However, it's nice to have something that works after my recent experiences!

DEFINITELY takes an age to boot up with a big card in it. If in a hurry I pop the card out before switching it back on - and then it takes a couple of seconds for the beep that acknowledges the card's presence.
Another reason to lust after the 8Gb, I guess.

O2 have dodged around the N95 8gb by giving the original N95 and a 8gb micro sd card because they're concentrating on the iphone release I reckon.

It IS the old N95 that O2 are selling with the 8gb card. I guess that popping the card out when I boot up may be one way round it. I had an N95 earlier but this one seems better built, no creaks etc. I had taken a K850i with a new contract on O2 but it didn't live up to expectations... wouldn't sync with MS Exchange Server (even though SE advertise it as one of the 1st phones with this feature!!!) and took to freezing when I tried to hang up phone calls.
The N95 simply does everything it's supposed to!
I think the comment about O2 avoiding the 8gb for now sounds about right. If you look at the 'coming soon' section of the website, they have NOTHING coming soon :D Just the I-phone!

They must be getting a right pasting from Apple then. Noticed that they have posters up saying that it's available from 6:02 pm on Friday (?!?).
Mugging by appointment, I guess.

6:02 as in 6pm when apple always launch new products and the 02 for O2 the network. Lame I know

I saw the Touch in Currys - saw the icons, it was alarmed and so on, so figured it was a demo. AND I DID NOT TRY IT.
Didn't know whether to be pleased at my resistance or feel stupid.
Just a look? Nah. Not good enough. I'm going to have to at least attempt to hold one. Where the hell are they going to shove the screw? Much as I prefer the N95, I wouldn't mind a go. Just to know, and give me some ideas as to what kind of build quality I should expect from Nokia's own efforts next year.
