Just a couple of questions. I've tried searching but couldn't find anything specific.

I've currently got a contract with "3". I want to get a new phone for the contract so am looking at the N95, hence why i'm here.

Up until tonight i always assumed the N95 would have to be on the "3" network to accept my sim but i tried a friends N95 with my sim on it and it worked fine. (He's on Orange)

So, is it just a matter of getting a N95 and my "3" sim along with of it's features will work on it perfectly fine? Or will there be missing "3" software on the phone.

Will some network N95 work and others won't?

TIA

Hi Dino07

If you get an N95 from another network it will have to be unlock to work with your 3 sim ( unless its from O2 as they dont lock they phones ), but the think is that it will not have any of the 3 settings on it.

This means that you will not be able to play any of the downloads off the 3 site and will have to get the setting to see my3.

There is more info on this site about it, so have a good look a round:)

Downloads from 3 won't work on a generic phone because you'll be missing the 3 certificate but in theory you could flash it to 3 branded software and that should work.

Settings will be OK though. Nokia Setttings Wizard on the phone sorts out your MMS etc.

Thanks for the info.

Is it difficult or expensive to unlock the phone to 3? And then to install the 3 software on to it?

From stuff i've read over the past, i've always assumed it to be difficult to unlock 3 phones. Or a little stubborn anyway.

I have an ex-vodafone N95, unlocked, debranded and updated to latest firmware. The firmware upgrade seems to have installed 3 links, etc, perhaps the nokia software updater recognised the 3 sim or something.

Is it difficult to get it unlocked and the firmware updated? Or to get hold of and install "3" firmware to the N95?
