Hi
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has sucessfully got orb and sling player working on your x-series phone.
I'm on a gold tarif with an N95, and have had no luck at all getting either app working over 3g.
I can get orb working fine over the n95's wifi connection. Also slingmobile works fine connecting to my laptop.
When i launch orb from the 3 launcher on the phone it brings up the orb front page and says click to login, if i choose "3" as the connection it just sits there and does nothing, if i then change the connection to wifi it works straight away.
I have to go to the orb/three webpage to get it connecting over 3g. Once connected over 3g nothing streams, it just says connecting and the gives a server error.
Similar with slingmobile, locates box fine then just sits at connecting.
Any one who has these apps working and their gold tarif (preferably with an N95) please speak up, would love to know if i'm doing anything wrong.
Thanks
Drew

Sounds like your account isn't setup for X-Series Gold. Are you able to access the "Silver" services like Skype and can you use data?
A friend of mine had this problem and 3 tried various things including turning X-Series off and then on again, and they eventually had to send him a new sim card which worked instantly. But I think they did lots of tests and checks before doing that.

Yeah all the "silver" apps work fine, skype etc, web browsing is fine to.
I'll give them a ring about the possibilities of getting a new SIM,
Cheers
I'm having the same issue as you, see in this thread: http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=63642
But I'm using the 6120c (it's still X-Series Gold compatible). I haven't had a sim swap yet, but they say it'll make no difference - yet when I insist something's already working (like being able to access my slingplayer ok), they insist that I have to test it. So annoying.
Please let me know how you get on with your service.

Hmm - not got round to asking for a sim swap yet - i uninstalled the three branded orb software off my pc and installed the original software from orb, and i can now connect fine from my phone, i then installed a trial version of the sling mobile player, direct from sling and this also works fine.
Its something on threes end, either with my account or maybe the sim conflicting with their version of the software.

I had the same problem when I first got my E65 and X-Series Gold addon. Basically Three had not provisioned the Gold addon correctly, even though it came up on their system and on my account (under My 3).
In the end they had to remove the addon and then re-add it 24 hrs later and it started working fine. A few other people have had similar problems and this action normally resolves the issue.
Ask 3 to remove the addon and then reactivate it.

Thanks - but already tried that a couple of weeks ago.

Sorry Mate - I can't help you with ORB, but as far as SLING is concerned, I was having problems - sometimes would connect - most of the time it wouldn't though.
Sling have a fantastic live help - and basically the guy remoted my PC and rejigged the settings to allow access over the net by my phone.
Since then, I have not had any problems whatsoever.
I would highly recommend that you tackle it this way, as I'm fairly confident (from my experience) that there won't be a problem with your handset or the connection from your handset - the problem is most likely down to the configuration of your router settings etc.
Hope this helps,
Tony
