on the Gadget show. Did anybody catch it? Bit of a silly comparison really, it should have been the Sony Ericsson 5mp camera phone against the N95 rather than the iPhone which is all about the looks rather than being feature rich.
Anyway, N95 came out on top as expected but it did list its faults as having all this great new technology on a phone but having old battery technology doesn't really work.

Well in the iPhones defence the qwerty does take time to get used to and it is quite a clever system. Suzy couldn't get her sat nav to connect to satellites but she was in a built up area and I don't think she did it outside with the keypad open...
Also, she said she's used the phone over the summer and no longer takes her digital camera with her. She must have a really rubbish digital camera...

I don't know why she didn't get a lock with the N95. She must not have the latest firmware. With the assisted GPS I get a GPS lock inside any building in under a minute! If outside, it's more like 20 seconds! She had internet access so the phone was either not configured to use A-GPS or it was the old firmware.

see they compared the "old n95" not the new 8gb model aswell, and the reason why he couldnt use the web on some sites on the iphone was because the toch sensitive keypad which is displayed on the screen covered parts of the web page. and i noticed when she said she couldnt get a lock with the gps she was sat in the car with the phone on her knee instead of having it near the windscreen.

Now i know the N95 is a better functional phone and that it has more featured etc. But i wouldnt give my iPhone up for anything.
I dont need GPS when i have google maps. I dont need a 5mp camera which isnt as good as my 4mp digital camera which is tiny. I want the cool interface, the great OS (which woops Nokias ass) and the package as a whole is MUCH better
Im sure others have different opinions and they require those extra features which is fine. Everyone is different.

Do they work? The bluetooth on the iPhone is crippled.

Is the "cool interface" really worth 269 quid? As all common operations on the N95 are only one or two keypresses I rarely have to worry about how "cool" the interface looks as I so rarely need to use it. Isn't a bit of an indictmeet of the iphone that the interface has to be navigated so often that it becomes important?

Well, I will admit that I like the iPhone version of scrolling through lists - especially compared to the use of a scroll bar.
But it's just an alternative method to joypads - no real gains from it.
Really like the way you can edit pictures on it - the wallpaper set up demo was fast and effective, and having tried to use wallpaper on the N95 (one word - no), the photo manipulation is the one aspect of the iPhone they seem to have got right. Just a shame the the iPhone lens cover has all the glam and glory of a 12.99 camera from Tesco (not an opinion of actual image quality, I've heard it's quite good). This is nothing new in mobile phones, of course, but the cameraphone business is now a far more serious business than it was in the days of the GX10 (hard to believe that that was ever 'cutting edge' now).

GX10!!! 1 megapixel! The amount of them I sold!
Makes me howl - £300 payg.
1 megapixel? I didn't think the camera was that high (I thought it was 0.3!):D
That phone was the beginning of my downfall. Fancied one, but not the price, so I bought a T300, then the A835 (guess which one I should have kept).
Better get back OT. I've heard a lot about there being a bluetooth issue with the iPhone, but have not actually heard what it is, any chance that someone could enlighten me, please?
Also, Kilvano, is it right that you cannot retrieve email attachments on the iPhone? Also, can you download MP3 files from, say, a blog post?
Much as I hate to say it, I think that even if 3g and apps get sorted out for the iPhone mk2, there is an even more frustrating issue that is going to become obvious as the more obvious problems get sorted. Think iPod/iTunes and you'll see what I mean.

I'm sure it was a 1mpx!
Bluetooth issues include things like not being able to send your files or pictures via blueooth.

As I thought. Not a problem, but deliberate. Whenever Apple get stung by 'issues' with the music industry, it's always about their attitude towards the other companies involved. Thanks to Apple's attitude towards the iPod, they have avoided being slapped around with the same entanglements that most online music sites and other mp3 player makers have had to face at some point or other. The majority of mp3 players are like flash drives, and therefore open to 'abuse', whilst the iPod is designed to work as a playing device only, with iTunes as the key.
And that is the problem with the iPhone - 'suffering' from the same play-it-safe attitude as the iPod, because unlike the iPod, the iPhone has the ability to download music, but most likely will be hobbled so that it cannot.
If Nokia ever start making phones that will only download from its own site, then that will be the time that I just grab a cheap mp3 player and have done with it.
Why open up the world, when all that you want to do is then close all borders?

the only songs you can play on the iphone are i tunes so forget converting your disks to mp3's to listen to on your iphone, just my opinion but the iphone dosn,t even come close to the n95 it might look good but thats about it havnt seen an n95 8gb yet but i bet they look great in black.

I love my Iphone. The iPod functionality is loads better than the N95's music player, the browser is better, although the N95's is a close second IMO.
Overall, the IPhone is more about the user experience than hardcore functionality, but that swings it for me. Great phone. Only N95 feature I really miss is the video recording to be honest!
Not trying to annoy anyone, they're both great phones, and this is just my opinion.

N95 beats Iphone like hell, apple is new in the game so it can’t really beat the legend NOKIA, iphone might not be even user friendly but we do know that NOKIA is. Check out and get N95 vs iPhone comparison based in user experience opinions. http://www.swotti.com/mobilephones/

Lets not fight people, NOKIA & APPLE both suck.
I've an N95 & i've seen the Iphone,
The N95 is feature rich but yet it fails for many reasons, mainly battery life & GPS was so annoying before the latest firmware update. I was at a nokia Discussion in August & they promised faster GPS locking soon in a new update, it took about 3 months afterwards but it was out, yet i feel sorry for so many millions of N95 customers which will simply either have to wait till they turn grey or never get their update to improve the phone, mind you the battery still sucks, if you use its rick features, it fails due to battery power, otherwise i like the n95 quite a bit.
Apple, nice phone but wait isn't that your new Ipod touch screen ??
Oh yes it is, style, yea, cool, year, feature rich & up to standard with currently technology, no, im afraid apple has failed to do enough, perhaps the Iphone 2 or something, lol.
