Picking up email from my email accounts?

Hi all,

Does anyone know why I'm unable to use any external POP3 servers on O2?

I've tried gmail, bluehost with no luck, they just sit there trying to connect but never do.

However if I use O2's own email account it works....the problem being I don't use this address.

Is there anyway to set this up?

As a separate issue, I just got a new 6500 Classic which has Opera on it but I can't get it to connect.

I have a 3G sim and am on a contract.

Any thoughts?

Are you on Prepay or Contract?

On Prepay you wont be able to access these servers because O2' data services are limited to servers on their own networks or chosen third parties which consist of WAP sites only.

I'm on a contract. I couldn't connect on my old 750i either....just looking at the proxy settings for the preferred access point the the mo.

Problem solved, it wasn't using O2 MobileWeb as it's profile...all working great now :)

Mustn't become too hooked on e-mail though otherwise your next device could well be a Crackberry err sorry I mean Blackberry!!


I've seen people turned into quivering wrecks when the battery runs out on those, it's bloody scary!! :)

Can you post the settings used to set up g-mail from your handset. I have purchased an LG viewty and cannot seem set up my e-mail.

Bear in mind you first need to enable POP mail collection in your gmail account settings (settings > forwarding and POP tab)

I have tried this already but have had no luck. POP mail collection is already enabled as I have already set up with Mac mail. The only area where I can see im going wrong is with the smtp username and password or the access point in which I currently have as mobile web.
