View Full Version : Orange Answer Phone - still as daft as it used to be?

Remembering the days before 3G, there was a stupidity in the way Orange Answer Phone worked.
You could record a personal greeting, but between that and the tone, the system would say "If you want to re-record your message, press 1 at any time." (nothing more).
You could not turn that message off. Some people trying to call me were not clever enough to realise that it was unimportant or at least did not apply to their situation, resulting in people telling me it was complicated. In fact, the same people found Wildfire far less complicated.
Is the message still there, still worded exactly that way, and still compulsory?

Most voicemail systems insert such a message. If there *really* are people out there that are so easily confused, how do they manage to claim all the social security benefits?

Yes, but they don't make it compulsory like Orange do, or at least they word it better on most others that do include such a message.

Most of the ones I've used (on landlines, PBXs and mobiles) have not given you the option to remove it.
You can remove the answerphone permantly by calling CS or you can temporarily remove it by altering the divert settings on the handset.

Yes, but they are better worded... Orange's only gives you the one option - it does not tell the caller what to do if that is NOT what they want.
