Hey,

I've seen a few mentions of this "here and there" but I thought I'd consolidate this. I have a feeling this may be a problem on a bigger scale, so I thought anybody experiencing this could post here. Maybe there is a trend?

HSDPA/3.5G was launched a month or two ago in my area. It was fine...but now it seems to be having teething issues. Personally I'm having issues when trying to load internet pages. I click a link, it loads a little and then pauses. I have to "reload" several times before the pages fully loads. Sometimes it pauses in the middle of loading several times before actually finishing a page.

I'm experiencing the same problem with videos. They quite frequently have to buffer again - or just stop completely!

Leave the following info:

Description of Problem: (Above)
Phone Model: Nokia 6120
3G or 3.5G?: 3.5G

I got the same problem, with a 6120 and posted a question in the 6120 section, but with mine it affects 3G as well as 3.5G.

I have put a call into 3 and their tech services called back asking what firmware the phone has installed which is V03.70.

I am now waiting for them to call back and said it would be within 48 hours.

Been having the same problem recently with my N73, so it may not be just a 3.5G problem.

same problem happening here too. Causing a lot of issues on apps such as Jaiku and WLM.

I am also experiencing this annoying problem too , on my n95, in northern ireland, which has been enabled for 3.5g access.

I bought a 6120 from 3 3 days ago on payg.
Can confirm other posters experiences. Like a motorway fly along then jams.
It also seems to switch btw 3g and 3.5g which may be part of the problem.
I prefer Opera browser and that has only ever done 3g with the same stop start frustration.
Meanwhile my 6300 on Orange 2.5g is sweet. Using it 4 this post.
Sorry 4 contract users I can and probably will walk away.
The 6300 is a better build quality, anyone want a near new 6120?

I had my 6120 replaced as it failed to load up most web pages. The new one still fails to load some pages and hangs, but at least it is usable.

Since the 19th October HSDPA has all but disappeared between Belfast and Newry. I use a 3UK X-Series, a 3IRL Modem and a 3UK modem. Its the same on all of these SIMS and devices -HSDPA s now a rarity rather than the norm.

Tonight, the service is completely inaccessible.

I just got my N95 just over two weeks ago and the signal quality is dire.
It wll pick on 3G signal and then vanish and takes an age to decide to go to 2G mode.

Tonight I am unable to connect to Planet 3 or Internet and have also noticed the sessions seem to pause, ie the connection lines have a strike though them. My outgoing K800i also cant connect so some kind of network issue must be happening, can't be bothered calling India right now.

The 3 StoreI bought the phone said it would need to be sent away for diagnostic and repair, surely a handset just over 2 weeks old should be replaced or at least checked against a similar handset.

The whole 3 network was dead for data whether mobile browsing, handset-as-modem or using the datamodem.

I have been having the same issues with my N95 as the previous posters. I noticed today though that the buffering on video has almost stopped and browsing has improved.

jsut thought id throw in an opinion here.it seems to me that there may be abigger problem with the HSPDA technology.

here in ireland 3 launched mobile broadband at 19.99 a month for 3.6mbps and 10gb cap. becasue of this(87%popualtation coverage) 40,000 people have joined three for the service and already the ENTIRE three network is saturated. constantly having problems with timeouts and speeds.

the first week i achieved a max speed of 2.1mbps., now i rarley get 25kbps.

no one understands that each CELL gives of a max of 3.6mbps. so if 2 people are simultaneously downlaoding each will only get 1.8 mbps. so even when i have a full signal it doesnt matter. now i tryed a speed test at 3.30AM and max i got was 256kbps. over here they only use one IP ADDRESS. now as far as i know the server can only handle so mcuh data at one time.this is why it times out.

so i pressume three uk HSPDA will be the same. if your speeds drastically decrease or timeout.leave them!!

ill give you a link to the MAJOR problem with three ireland here.

the problem is likely to be lack of backhaul capacity.

because there is a lack of it, and too many users with HSDPA access, the node B downgrades the service to accomodate more users. hence, really poor throughput which would cause some services like streaming to stop or jump.

this is where 3's theory of mobile broadband for all with the x-series and so on, hits a fundamental flaw....

I noticed on my N95 today during a high quality bbc news stream that the signal bar jumped from displaying 3.5 to 3g quite regularly and eventually the pictre freezed and buffered for a few secs. I really do think there are more people on hsdpa phones/mobile broadband dongles than the network can handle to be honest.

It's also a trifle optimistic as the phone calls have to come out of the available bandwidth. This system does piggy-back on a Digital Mobile phone calls. It doesn't magic extra spectrum from somewhere.

Also if the cell/mast has 3 to 6 sectors and only one 2.048Mbps Primary ISDN connection for backhaul (all the sectors Data + voice calls!) you're sort of unlikely to get 3.6Mbps ever.we don't know how many masts have howmany sectors and how much backhaul and if real IP or TDM(ISDN based).
