3G phone using as a modem

hello

I have a nokia 6630 and i am on 3 network. I use my phone as a modem and connect to the internet via my laptop and it works fine. But i cannot use my msn messenger or yahoo messenger or any other software to connect to the internet all i can do is connect to the internet through my browser. I think there is a firewall blocking some ports. CAN SUM1 PLEASEEE HELP ME UNBLOCK THE PORTS or does any1 know how to connect my msn messenger to the internet.....

Is your hone a 3 phone or was it originally on another network also what add on do you have on your account?

As far as I know normally using a phone as a modem is against their terms, others have used their phones as a modem, but I don't know what you can and can not access via a phone.

As Pav as already mentioned if you have add internet or x-series on your account then it is against the terms of the the add on because if you want to use your phone as a modem you are meant to use add wireless web. If you dont have wireless web most of the internet will still work for browsing (even Microsoft Update still works) but you will find that there are parts of threes site that are blocked (you cant access the pc version of my3 nor can you download the pc versions of tracks and videos bought from 3 and you cant access the online 3 store), you cant use messenger apps or p2p apps (eg bittorrent).

You can use this though which is the web based version of msn

I have X-series silver and MSN connects just fine for me on my PC when I use my N80 as a modem!

You must have the internet max addon or whatever it's called, 3 changes it's name monthly these days, I know they have blocked almost everything on that addon!

Can you access the Pc version of my3 or download from the 3 music store though or get past the login page for these without your pc trying to use a different net connection?

It is suprising that windows\microsoft update works on add internet when its only meant to be used on a phone and you can download virus definitions for anti virus but you cant use the msn messenger app.

But it does not seem to connect everytime anymore as when you try to connect your phone to your pc the Pc just says its aquiring network address even though you can still browse and every now and again it says there is limited or no connectivity but just disconnecting and reconnecting posts this but it is weird now that when you connect now it appears connected for about 2 seconds then just goes to aquiring network address even though you can still browse

Like I said, I have an N80 and I also have x-series silver!

MSN works just fine and I can access My 3 all through my pc with no problems at all!

You can access the phone version of my3 through the pc with add internet but as for the pc one it will go to the page to logon to my3 but wont go any further.

They have ruined add internet, it's next to usless now if im correct someone even said email no longer works on it either!
