i want slingbox and x series gold - already have x-s silver

i went in the 3 shop today and enquired about upgrading from x series siver to gold on my n73 and getting a sling box.

He said the box was free but i would have to phone up 3 CS and get them to cancel my x series silver and then put gold on in the shop.

i asked if i could do it there and then but he said i would have to come back another time.

is this the common practice?
do you have to wait a period of time between cancelling silver and changing to gold?

There's plenty of info on this on the forum already - it's where I found out about this in the first place! I've gone in to greater detail than I will here, but in a nutshell...

You don't need to cancel Silver and you do not need to call 333. Go back to the store and don't take no for an answer. They will get on the phone to CS so you don't have to and it will get done there and then. And, if they have 'em in stock, you should be able to leave with a Slingbox.

ok i read you previous post, looks like ive got to be persistant.

1 last question, am i right in thinking its the x series gold contract that you must keep for a year and not your current phone contract

That's correct - you sign up to Gold for a min 12 months - regardless of the length of your phone contract.
