I have been with 3 for years now. Last november they rang me up asking if i wanted to upgrade, of course i said yes. I changed my tariff to talk/text 900. In the summer i wanted to reduce my price plan (mainly to get more texts and a lot less minutes), but was told I had to wait 12 months as i got a special deal. I said, well whats the point as at 12 months i can just upgrade anyways.

Their reply was oh no, you upgraded early, and now your contract doesn't end until January 15th. I was a little shocked as nobody EVER mentioned this. I said fair enough though, and left it for a while. I rang them up today to see if i could now reduce my price plan, being just a few weeks off 12 months and all. They told me "Sir I understand, but NO." basically! How can this be? I started paying £40 last november, i got the increase in minutes etc, so in my eyes, i have just done a 12month stint of my agreed tariff. Now i want to change it a little so I get more texts and they're saying that i can't until mid-december.

I'm so mad with them. They never told me my contract would become 14months, they originally said i could change after 12 months and now they're saying i can't, and it's grating me!

I can ring up to give 30days notice on 23rd december, which i told them i was looking forward to.

What pisses me off more is that just last thursday i had a guy ringing up offering me an upgrade, lol. So, they obviously have the power to change tariffs.

I didn't want to be unreasonable, and i can see some of their constraints. To be honest, i was happy if they could have made a tariff which still cost exactly the same but just gave me more texts and less minutes, but no.

I was thinking of leaving them anyway as they never get the latest phones anymore, and when they do they only support them for a few weeks (N80 in specific i'm thinking). And their tariffs aint worlds better anymore either!

Anyways, sorry for the rant! :D
Oh well, looks like i'm moving from 3 in january. It has been a good few years, just feels sour at the end!

Im a huge fan of 3 but if everything you say is true it sounds unreasonable and doesnt sound like my experience when I have upgraded early

ie my contract has been 12 months from when I upgrade

Have you refered your issue to the exec office - they sort most genuine issues out.

I'd just put your case to them and see if your problem is resolved.

What's the exec office? So far i've only spoken to India, or wherever the call centre is. Today i spoke to a floor manager but she was no use either. I agree that it just seems a little unreasonable. I have always been happy with 3 in the past, but this is just bizarre.

The exec office is aligned with the chief execs office and deal with complaints.

They have always resolved my problems to my 100% satisfaction even when the CS staff tell me the computer says no...

Your situation is definitely something I would call them about.

I dont know your full case - but if what you say is totally genuine I would definite let them know the situation and how you feel you have been misled.

I believe you can no longer call the exec office direct without getting a reference number from CS - but call 333 log the problem and give them one last opportunity to sort your problem.

If they dont ask for a reference for you call. Alert them to the fact that you need this as you want to pass your case onto the exec office.

Once you have your reference number, call 01628 765000 and ask to be put through to the exec office.

Explain the situation, state you have a reference number and they will normally look into the case and come back to you asap.

Good luck!

PS the exec office are only available during office hours

new to this,i had 18month contract but phone died after 12 phoned 3 and were told that as phone was free with contract, i would have to buy new one, asked how to cancel contract and were advised that it would be cheaper to pay by dd until the contract ended, so i have paid dd for 6 months with no phone.after 6 months i have stopped dd and then 2 months later the first bill arrived demanding 2 months line rental, then phone calls from india every other day pretending not to understand that we had not used the account for 6 months and that we had given our intentions to leave 6 months prior, now they are threatening bad credit reference unless we pay for a service we have not used.should i swallow my pride and pay up, or fight it
