As the title says, I've been trying to get some add-ons to my 3togo tarrif.

I need modem use of my phone for a while, but don't want to sign up to a new mobile broadband account because I don't need it for 12 months - after a few months I want to change to x-series silver so I can still browse and read email on my phone.

Called 3CS, who kept insisting mobile broadband wasn't compatible with my phone, a 6680. I understand the 6680 doesn't do hsdpa, but it does work as a modem on normal 3g speeds. I don't live in hsdpa coverage anyway, so who cares? :)

They kept insisting it wasn't compatible and just reeled off the list hsdpa phones. So I gave up on the mobile broadband and just asked for x-series silver for phone use. They then insisted the 6680 wasn't x-series compatible either. When I directed them to the compatibility table on their website that lists the 6680 I was put on hold for a couple of minutes, and they returned and said they couldn't add anything because my *account* was incompatible, and then tried everything they could to make me upgrade and switch tarrif.

After 44mins on the phone I felt like I was getting the run around, especially with being put on hold before another excuse was given to not let me have the add on. :(

Can anyone shed any light? Or better still, does anyone have x-series or mobile broadband with 3togo?

Cheers! :)

Your suffering in the same way that I am - all because we have been loyal to 3 and have old tariffs.

I love 3 to bits and wont budge yet again in Nov when I renew for the 5th time BUT I think this policy sucks.

I've been with 3 from launch date (3.3.03) and have the original founder member caboodle tariff.

Yet when I try and give 3 another fiver a month to sign up to X series silver they also tell me that my account isnt able to have X series as an add on - despite the fact I have an X series phone.

I think its mad that 3 turn down revenue like this - especially as I told customer service that if i switched to an x series tariff they would lose money on my contract fee every month (ofcourse I would get fewer inclusive items which is why want me to switch...)

Madness...from a company that I think is otherwise the best mobile company around.

I would keep on at them tho - as up until this year they have also refused to give me any money off my current tariff when I renew, whereas I could get six months half price if I switched tariffs for example.

Whereas now they have offered me 20% off my bills when I renew in Dec as a loyalty discount.

Hopefully they will budge on the add on situation as well.

Thanks for the reply. It's not just me then.

It's true they're turning down money to get me off 3togo. I'm not going to change the plan, so I have to look elsewhere for the data. Didn't want to have two devices, and want to browse on the phone, so the usb modem wasn't an ideal solution. :(

I made some general enquiries about upgrading my phone on 3togo and all they offered was to change to the mix and match tariff or one of the other plans.

I just bought a 6120 on payg so I can use the phone on 3togo, but with their new payg tariffs not sure if I will use the 3togo now as mobile calls to other networks are cheaper on flat12.

The good thing about 3togo normal calls are £0-10 and one does not have to top up ones credit.
