Wow that is incredible. I googled it a bit, and I can't get a straight answer on whether it will be included in the new firmware update for the N95 or not. I really hope they do include it.
Also does anyone know if ODP clears the ram? So once you close the all the applications the ram jumps back to the original 20mbs or so you had on fresh boot?

According the Steve on the comments it won't be included in a firmware update. The N95s are for show only really. Shame, because they really should put this in. However, I know the next firmware release has been delayed for a while now, so maybe they are doing it?

I don't understand why they would want to exclude the N95 from such a drastic improvement. Just doesn't seem logical...

NO, I know mine does, it's just everything I've read from concrete sources seems to suggest it's not coming. The only people saying it is are forum members really.

I would like to see it come though, seems like a great addition.

And I quote the Guru

I've also heard reports that the original N95 is due for a firmware update that will include Demand Paging, as well. Time will tell.

As he says time will tell. I'll be happy to be wrong!

Just out of interest..what application is being used in the video to check the available RAM??

I could see Nokia not adding it, simply as an incentive to upgrade :(

Hope this Guru chap is right though, it's a massive improvement.

Yeah, the N95-1 would benefit so much more from Demand Paging.. sure, it speeds up loading times, but that's really a side benefit compared to the huge increase in free RAM, and the N95 8GB hardly needs any of that. If they've got it working on the N95 8GB on Symbian OS 9.2, then I'm sure it would be trivial to port it to the N95; there's really no reason I can think of why the N95 8GB's OS could be dropped onto the N95 unmodified, to be honest, although they're not going to do that.

I wonder if some clever person will work out a way to change the N95 frmware to the N95 8Gb firmware. I suspect it will happen one day.

Wonder if it's just a case of using an N95 8Gb product code on a standard N95?

i doubt it, and I'll be damned if i'll try it!

NSysInfo gives similar output, but it's not that program either.

If you did manage to get the firmware for the n95 8gb on there then there'd be no driver for your memory case since it doesn't have one. I wouldn't fancy a phone with only 100mb of memory to store all my stuff on!

Lol not to mention the 4Gb\6GB microsd you'd throw away ;)
