Hi there,

Take a look at this link

http://www.three.co.uk/customer/linkdocument.omp?cid=1089021441077

This should load up the pdf file for three's charges. Pages 28/29 of the actual document give the prices for international data use.

Basically 3 bands: Band 1 and 2 (which includes the USA) is £3.00 per MB and band 3 which costs £6.00 per MB.

Hope this helps.

John

Good luck if you can connect. I was in the US and couldn't on the AT & T network. When I pressed Planet 3 it takes you to their charges and allows searches through Google. It isn't until you click a link from the search that you are charged. However, I couldn't get beyond the searches and tried loads of times but paid nothing.

I think if you have X series it is £3 a MB.

I emailed Three to tell them about it and one of their muppets phoned me. I explained and all he kept saying was that you couldn't use Planet 3 in the US. I kept trying to tell him I wasn't trying to. He kept telling me I couldn't use the internet in the US despite it being on the website, which he denied!

In my opinion you would be crazy to use your 3 mobile roaming in the US for any length of time. The charges are ridiculous especially when compared with using a local Sim card. On AT & T Go Phone last time I was there the prices were 49c per minute international voice and 5c per text message against £1.20 per minute and 25p per text. If traveling outside the area your Sim is registered you will pay to receive calls but again at a much cheaper rate than the 80p per minute charged by Three. Not sure what data options they have on these sims though.

But the OP wasn't talking about the cost of roaming, which we all know is too high, but the cost of data, which I actually think is quite reasonable. In fact, I think at £3 a mb it is cheaper than Orange is in the UK without a bundle.

Of course in UK I have 2Gb for 5 UKP
In US it's 1Mb for 3UKP.

That's > 1000 x the price.

Of course somewhat hypothetical, but for me makes data unusable when roaming (except on other 3 networks). of course it's not just 3...
