i have an n95 which i have had for about 6 weeks and more and more often it reboots itself and sometimes just has a black screen with the backlight and keypad lights on. i checked the nokia website and have the latest version of the software. have a 1gb memory card thats not even a quarter full. the phone is on orange pay monthly. anyone know of a fix for this or is it sumthing you have to put up with?

Certainly not something you should have to put up with, mine has never rebooted on me.

i was told by orange that if i take it to a place called atlas communications they will put the "correct"software on it for me but nokia website suggests i have correct version

V 11.0.026

RM-159
Nokia N95 (68.03)

THEY SAY ITS A FREE SERVICE AND IT TAKES AN HOUR BUT I RECKON AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME I COULD PROBABLY DEMEND A NEW HANDSET.

ANY IDEAS?

What they'll do is hand the phone back to you blank, if you do have the latest Orange firmware (NSU will tell you) then save yourself the trouble of going down there and format the phone yourself (after making a backup of course) and see how it performs.

To format the phone input *#7370# followed by the code 12345 (unless you've changed it, then enter that)

NSU= Nokia Software Updater.
Before you do anything have a read of my blog in particular Housekeeping and Debranding/Updating.
There are one or two things that it is worth knowing that are taboo to be mentioned on this forum!
Read all you can and this will enable you to factor out things that could cause problems in the future.

Taking the phone back will not resolve any issues that have been caused by poor software or installation issues that could be corrected by installing to phone mem instead of card mem etc!
Mine never crashes.

managed to get orange to get me a reconditioned handset out free of charge next day. to which i may add has now been and gone. and another recon handset. but this one is working fine and with the knowledge that i can get a recon part in 1 day is good enuff for me.

such a great phone when it works right. think i just got a bad one
