Folks

I have an N95 on Vodafone, tied into a long contract.

I have worked out that I have about £250 left to pay on this contract over the next 14 months

I am interested in taking out a contract with three, getting a new N95 and x-series gold (slingbox etc).

What I'm trying to work out is whether i can cover the old contract by selling either my existing N95 or alternatively the new N95 that comes from three, and be no worse off.

Ideally I would like the new N95 - but I'm happy to keep the old one if i can get more for the new one for sale.

Some questions, hope you can help!

1) What's the going rate for a) a second hand good condition N95 and b) a new N95, albeit not the new 8Gb version? (have checked ebay, price seems to vary?)

2) Will my existing N95 be locked to Vodafone and hence not work with the Three SIM?

3) Will the new N95 be locked to Three and hence be worth less to sell? If so can it be unlocked, how, and for how much?

Appreciate your thoughts?

James

Does not sound a very good idea to me. IMHO it would be better to flog your Vodafone one and get an unlocked/sim free one off of ebay. But beware there are a lot of sharks on ebay. I spent about a month researching as many offer a "touchscreen" N95 which in fact is a "NOKLIA" cheap immitation.

If you get your current n95 on Ebay quickly enough, you may still get £200 or so, but prices are bound to drop when the new 8gb really gets out there. Your Voda n95 is almost certainly locked to Voda, but they should agré to unlock it for £20 charge if you give them a plausible excuse. Pretend you need to travel and use different sims while away, it's possibletthey may not even ask why but worth having a line ready just in case. The 3 n95 will be locked to 3, too, but you'll get a lot more for an 8gb n95 on Ebay, at least for the next few months.
