Arghghghghghghgh..... I've just made a 30 minute call to NatWest ActionLine. Their telephone number is 08457 888 ***. I'm really unsure about how Voda charges for calling these kind of number.
I am currently on a 35 a month 750 mins / 250 txts + STC plan.....
Will the 30 minute I called to NatWest be deducted from my inclusive minutes or will I be charged separately? If so, what's the cost going to be?
I hope it's not like 35p - 90p a minute because then I will be broke!
I sure will write a complaint letter to the bank because their staff just kept me on the phone talking about stupid stuff and I have to pay for the call.

AFAIK its 15p per minute and does not come out of your allowance.
This is now fairly standard practice with the networks

I agree with the above post. Vodafone started charging for this number back in 2002. AFAIK no network offer "non geographic" (0845, 0870 etc) numbers from allowances. Even 0800 numbers are charged. Also certain 07xx numbers (as hospitals etc use them for patient lines). Try the site ihate0870.com for alternative numbers. I found very handy.

Hi,
It's 35p per minute for calling these types of numbers and it wouldn't come out of your minutes. If you've been on for 30 mins, the cost of this would be around £10.00. You would be billed for this in November with Vodafone as billing is 1 month in arrears.
If you're not happy with this, it might be worth speaking with the company you called if you think they kept you holding or waiting for too long. Hope this helps!

Just checked this on the website and it seems to be the 15p figure I quoted. If it is 35p then it is scandalous when comparing it to other networks.
It would be cheaper to use someone like 1899 on their 02 landline. That would come out of inclusive minutes and their charge is 3.5p
That's my method on T-Mobile

It depends on the type of tariff you have, I know with the recent updates in tariffs on Vodafone, the cost could be different. What does your tariff show as on your bill? Is there a code before it or anything to help identify the type of tariff you have?
It might be worth you contacting us directly from our website by sending an e-mail through the Vodafone contact us form online. If you put the code 'FIT135' somewhere in the body of your e-mail and include all of the details the form asks for, we can come back to you and let you know for sure.

I've been charged about 5 pounds for 30 min call to NatWest banking line. So I guess it was 15p/minute.
A mistake I will never make again. I hate non-geographic numbers!

Saynoto0870 has a Peterborough number for Nat West - Try that.
Also did they give you a number to call from abroad - that's what I do with one of my Credit Cards

Yep, don't you just hate 0870 numbers! I thoughly recommend saynoto0870.com as they have a very comprehensive database and thanks to this I've changed all my 0870 No's in my phone's memory to geographic alternatives.
For reference, Natwest's contact centre is 01274 394611 and for their credit card call centre it's 01268 508018.
0870/0845 and 0871 are nothing short of premium rate numbers under the guise of 'national rate' - not from mobile networks!

Hi,
My bad guys, I hold my hands up sorry! This wasn't accurate. The actual cost of calling 0845 etc is only 15p per minute, this changed at some point earlier this year it was previously 35p. Take a look at this section on our website (http://online.vodafone.co.uk/dispatch/Portal/appmanager/vodafone/wrp?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=template10&pageID=PPP_0041&WT.svl=link1) that outlines these costs for calling the 08 numbers.
Again sorry guys! Just wanted to update you with the correct information.

What is Vodafone's take on using geographic access numbers to companies offering cheap international calls? I know Orange tried to introduce extra charging for calls to individual access numbers but the Telco's who operated them kept changing the numbers!

Neil201, your inclusive minutes on Vodafone can't be used for calling access numbers, whether these begin with 01, 02, 07744 or 08. The cost of these numbers will vary between 15p and 60p per minute normally.
