My3 - is it showing extra charges above X-series silver

I have a new Nokia 6120 on 3's £15 texter contract, with X-series silver add on ("unlimited" internet/email up to 1GB).

When i check on My3 i obviously can see how many mins/texts i have left.

Under "my usage" i can also see how many MB of data i've used.

There is also a "current spend" section, which i would have expected to show a big fat zero. However, over the first week of use this has crept up bit by bit: 30p to 48p to 57p to 68p.

Whilst these are clearly small amounts i am unsure as to what they could be for - all i have done is a bit of internet surfing, no downloads at all, and my data usage stands at the grand total of 32.56MB as of 11/10/07!

Are they really to be added on to my account and, if so, what for? Or is it just a measurement tool within my current deal.

I had the same issue as you and rang Three who assured me it would be corrected before the bill was sent out as the system does not get updated until the end of the month after upgrading. Once my first bill actually arrived it showed a big fat zero. Phew.....No need to panic after all.....

Blimey, didn't really expect any sort of reply at this time of night! Are you a shift worker, or just insomniac!

That's reassuring - i was convinced i couldn't be starting to rack up charges with what i've been doing.

judging by the small amounts that the value increases by it sounds like you have been using three's own 3Mail which is not included in Xseries silver. If that is the case then the charge will not go away when you get your bill. Or again it could be one of their errors as usual!

I forgot to add that i have not used 3mail yet.

In fact, i have not set up or used any email on the phone yet. I guess i was thinking of using hotmail & lycos as they are my current email accounts. Do i need to use 3mail to set up the others?

My understanding of X-series silver was that it should include internet surfing and email up to a data use of 1GB - which must be pretty hard to exceed on a phone!

But even if you go over 1gb you should not get charged as what you get is unlimited internet with a FAIR USE LIMIT of 1gb and you can go over this

its actually 2gig now since they have upped it - check the fup docs on three.co.uk :-)

Have you called any non-geographical numbers at all (0800, 0845, 0870 etc)? As these are not included in your minutes allowance.

Nope. Only made 2 calls so far (total of 8 minutes) both to mobile numbers.

It may just be an error my My3 then. Wait to receive your bill, and if you've been charged for things you haven't used, then you can take it up with CS. They get a lot of stick, but usually deal with this kind of thing pretty well.
