all you need are the homepage and APN

homepage is : http://mobile.three.co.uk
APN is three.co.uk

Then your all set to go and yes it works :)

Thanks N80user.

Have you used the Treo 750v - what do you think?

I've had a play with one but I don't like the fact that if you switch off it is only the phone - the PDA side keeps working.

Hi, I am new here but I have spent the last three weeks trawling the internet to get my unlocked Treo 750v to work on the 3 (Three) network. I now have it fully up and running on the web and MMS. Heres a step by step guide on how to do it :-

Delete all your existing connections.

Set up a WAP (internet) connection.

1. From the main display tap the START tab
2. Tap on SETTINGS
3. Tap the CONNECTIONS tab at the bottom of the screen
4. Tap the CONNECTIONS icon
5. Click on the first occurrence of ADD A NEW MODEM CONNECTION
6. In the ENTER THE NAME FOR THESE SETTINGS box, enter Three
7. Tap the MODEM tab at the bottom of the screen
8. Tap NEW
9. In the ENTER A NAME FOR THE CONNECTION box, enter Three WAP
10. In the SELECT A MODEM box tap the arrow icon, tap the CELLULAR LINE (GPRS, 3G)
11. Tap NEXT
12. In the ACCESS POINT NAME box, enter three.co.uk
13. Tap NEXT
14. In the USER NAME box - leave it blank
15. In the PASSWORD box - leave it blank
16. The DOMIAN is also left blank
17. Tap FINISH
18. Tap OK in the top right hand corner of the screen.

That will give you internet access. My default homepage is http://mobile8.three.co.uk/837_sc this takes you to the My3 homepage but I 'think' you can have any default page you like.

Set up a MMS connection.

1. From the main display tap the START tab
2. Tap on SETTINGS
3. Tap the CONNECTIONS tab at the bottom of the screen
4. Tap the CONNECTIONS icon
5. Click on ADVANCED
6. Click SELECT NETWORKS
7. Under programs that automatically connect to the internet click NEW
8. At ENTER A NAME FOR THE CONNECTION type Three MMS
9. Click on the MODEM tab
10. Click NEW
11. At ENTER A NAME FOR THE CONNECTION enter Three MMS
12. Click on the down arrow and select CELLULAR LINE (GPRS , 3G)
13. Click NEXT
14. At ACCESS POINT NAME enter three.co.uk
15. Click NEXT
16. In USER NAME leave it blank
17. In PASSWORD leave it blank
18. Click ADVANCED
19. Click OK (top right hand corner)
20. Click FINISH
21. Click START
22. Click MESSAGING
23. Click MENU
24. Click OPTIONS
25. Click on the ADVANCED tab
26. Click MANUAL
27. Click EDIT
28. In the MESSAGE CENTER NUMBER enter +447782333123 (see note below)
29. Leave the EMAIL CENTER NUMBER blank
30. In the MMS GATEWAY ADDRESS enter 217.171.129.2:8799
31. In the MMS URL enter http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
32. In the NETWORK PROFILE select the Three MMS setting
33. Press OK

Thats it ! Well at least it works for me. As I said, settings for the Treo 750v are hard found and the Message Center Number was extremely hard to locate. Once I inputed the above information I was able to send and receive MMS straight away and the internet works just fine.

Have fun and please let me know how you get on.

Allan :)

Additional information : after several days of trouble free service I found that I could no longer send text messages but i could still recieve them and everything else still worked, this was resolved by changing the MESSAGE CENTER NUMBER to +447782000800 and now all is well.

For your reference here are the numbers for the 3 services just in case your phone needs them :
SMS - +447782000800
Voicemail - +447782333123
Videomail - +447782333123

That's brilliant to have the settings. Many thanks Allan. I'm looking to buy an unlocked 750v and use it on the 3 network.

One of the ads I've seen on a certain auction site says an unlocked 750v will "work on all networks except 3". Any ideas why this might be? Or maybe they couldn't find the settings!

Hi Colin, Thanks for the heads up and I'm glad my work is of use to others out there. The reason most people say it won't work on the 3 network is because it is too difficult to get the information and settings. I spent many hours on the phone to 3 trying to get the settings, which they have but won't release because the phone is not one of theirs. One guy at 3 even admitted that he had the settings but his supervisor wouldn't let him give them to me. For the record, my Treo 750v still works 100%. Allan.

Cheers for those settings.

I have a Treo 750 and the only 3 pages I can get to work are the My3 pages where you top up and get your bolt ons ect (thanks to the above posts), but all the other pages for 3 such as services and Today just produce blank pages.

Any ideas?

I have found exactly the same thing. I had been intending to get a Treo but couldn't resist a Tytn at a good price. Pretty much the same OS though, and the settings are the same. The two links seem to go nowhere for me too.

I've still got a Three supplied Nokia E61 and when I go to Planet Three the pages display fine, but have different addresses.
The main page that Planet 3 key goes to is Today at: http://www.mobile.three.co.uk/hb/hutchkey
The Services page is: http://www.mobile.three.co.uk/hb/pre/explore
The My Three page is: http://www.mobile.three.co.uk/837_sc

None of these addresses will display in my Tytn, although the My Three page that works in the Tytn has a similar address(http://www.mobile.three.co.uk/837_sc/index.do) . I tried adding /index.do to the other addresses but it doesn't work. My guess is that the Three server detects the browser you have and won't display the pages unless it has an 'approved' Three version. If you try any of these above address on a PC they won't display, or will be forwarded.

Perhaps someone who knows more can tell us how to 'spoof' an approved browser on Pocket IE if that's what is causing the issue.

Cheers Colin

I suppose its a way for me to spend less money; Today and Services all have priced items; if I cant see them, I cant buy them - :-)

I've discovered in another post how to get the other pages to open. Basically you can get your browser to spoof itself as being another phone. I am using an HTC Tytn but by changing the browser's User Agent it identifies itself to Three as a SonyEricsson 910i, so Three knows how to serve up the pages. I chose the 910i because it has the same size screen as the 910i which is 240x320 and it's sold by Three. If your screen is a different size just find a phone that Three sells with the same size screen, get the settings (see post below), and use the Advanced Configuration Utility to change the User Agent.

Have a look at this thread. My post on the second page explains how it can be done on a Pocket PC, but it's Therafiman that did the hard work.

http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?t=71282&highlight=user+agent&page=2

I should add that although this seems to work for most sites, (and if anything speeded up pages such as Google) my own personal site displayed OK with my old settings but doesn't seem to show at all with the 910i settings. The home page for 3 can then be accessed at http://mobile.three.co.uk which is then forwarded to http://mobile.three.co.uk/hb/singleurl
Hope this helps.
