I recently Joined 3 and got thrown into the Internet Max Unlimited addon.
I was told that I would be able to access everything.
however, the only thing that I can access appears to be HTTP.
I would like to use the handset with my laptop to be able to use SSH , Check e-mails, VNC, etc.. but obviously I can't do this on the Max Unlimited thing.
If I moved to one of the BroadBand add-on's would I be able to use other ports other than 80?
And would I be able to use the nokia's built in Mail checker instead of using that hideous PUSHmail crap that you appear to have to use.

just to clarify, I rang 3 customer services and the helpful man said I should be able to use everything as if I was using a normal broadband so everything should work.
We'll see in 48 hours :)
He did mention I had to use the PCsuite software to "activate" the services which could be hard as I am running on a mac :/
It can't be much different from using the broadband dongle though can it?

No you dont need to use PCSuite at all. I connect via bluetooth rather than a cable and PCSuite and it works fine. You may find a few things still blocked, you probably wint be able to visit orb.com or use emoze for your email, but other than that i havent found anything that doesnt work, vnc does, as does any email application (other than emoze)

Does Mobilcast count towards data use ?
Just asking because NBA "Audio League Pass" is now free to fans who are registered at NBA.com.
This is the URL:
http://www.nba.com/broadband/alp_schedule.html
Would "Mobilcast" have or be able to get this feed, or would it be as I suspect, come out of your data allowance ?
At 125kbps, 52Meg over 60 minutes
Would that be 20 hours streaming audio for 1 Gbyte ?
Could get pricey

I only used mobicast once and didnt like it but from what I understand it does come out of your allowance, its not an additional limit like it is with sling. I use the nokia podcasting application as i find it far superior http://europe.nokia.com/A4160376

Iv got broadband lite on one phone and xseries silver on another, both have orb and emoze blocked. Ohh - I'm quite disappointed to hear that. I thought the 3 Mobile Broadband service didn't block any ports? I'd be definitely wanting to use SlingPlayer on the service so will this not be possible? I'm trying to decide between 3 and T-Mobile WnW but if there are blocked ports on 3 I'll probably go with T-Mobile instead.

I know X-Series silver will have the orb port blocked, as orb is one of the services you pay an extra £5 to get X-Series Gold for!
It's logical when you think about it. Apart from that, there is virtually nothing blocked on X-Series Silver (well, I've not come across anything, anyway).

What about the mobile broadband service? I'd had a look at X-Series but it didn't seem to offer 'normal' internet access, just access to defined services for a few mobiles - I'd prefer to get the K850i and just access whatever services I wanted within the data usage bundle.

The x-series offers normal internet access, albeit on your handset. Of course it will work better on some handsets due to the built-in browsers being rubbish on some phones. Having said that though, there's alway Opera Mini which works fine for a lot of websites.
