My mate wants to try using his 6120c as a modem just to see what sort of download speed he will get using HSDPA ? Can anyone please let me know what the settings are ?

I tried just now and its simple. Install PC suite, connect your phone, you will see icon in system tray, double click and click on get connected, chose type of connection ie cable. click next, high light your handset and finish. Now look at the pc suite window and click on connect to internet,it will take about 10 seconds. If it fails than configure it manually by selecting access point from drop down list and look for T-Mobile Internet as your access point.Make sure there is no live internet connection on handset. The handset should connect in seconds as modem.
I find 3UK's connection faster and allowes more browsing flexibility than T Mobile. And 3UK is cheaper making it more value for money. But thats my opinion and many wont agree.

3UK is cheaper, but how about coverage? Which one is better?

Bestway to check that is to put a 3 sim in a compatible phone abd check the signals.

Well, T-Mobile on the first place, 3UK second, Vodafone on the tenth.

I'm trying to decide whether to go for 3 or T-Mobile just now for mobile broadband access - what extra flexibility do 3 offer that T-Mobile don't? I wish there was a good comparison list somewhere (e.g. blocked ports on different services) that I could look at!

Thanks

Alan :)

Hi Alan, I tried both and settled for 3.Infact you can use 3's internet service to full potentials but TandC can play its part.Howver, technically you can access all internet services upto your download limit. For almost similar service T Mobile is 7.50 more expensive than 3.
I beileve that mobile braodband is another avenue for users to check emails, read webpages and as long as users use the service as such,I dont think the mobile network providers would object if you dont overdo it.So all in all ,use you laptop with hadset modem when you are out and about.Rest of the times make use of home connection.
Remember it will take a long time before it replaces conventional home connection.Regards.

Thanks for the reply, Lord Lucan - glad to know you haven't had any problems. I read a few people having trouble with their Slingboxes not working on 3 but it seemed to be a transient problem rather than an active block.

Hi

I have a variation of this question; How do I connect use my nokia 6120 as a modem for my PDA?

I use it for my laptop via nokia software suite, but don't know how to connect my PDA to it. Have set up a bluetooth connection between the 2 but can go no further. The PDA is windowns mob 5 based (its a varioII).

I want to avoid having to transfer the SIM between the 2.

Thanks

A.
