****Cross-posted to T-Mobile forum*******

Hi all,

I have 2 PAC codes from O2 and am considering where to go next.

I currently have an unlocked N95 and want to use it to its fullest potential, whilst my other phone (the wife's) is only really used for voice, texts and MMS

I have been looking at the various 3 and T-Mobile tariffs and frankly am struggling to make a decision. They both have pros and cons

Mix n Match (with X-series or unlimited internet)
Pros
1Gb internet (should be more than enough), Live Messenger, Yahoo, Skype (don't currently use), Slingbox (undecided) etc..
Decent number of minutes/texts for the money. Best European roaming charges

Cons
MMS chargeable, video minutes/messages chargeable if free phone taken, dubious customer services

FlexT with WebnWalk

Pros
Allowance includes MMS, 1Gb internet, 2texts = 1 min, compatible phones use HSDPA for faster downloads.

Cons
Voicemail not free, not many "free" bundled apps, unsure of 3G coverage

Really what I am after is opinions one way or another, possibly highlighting some things I haven't thought of!

Hi Gadgetnutter

One thing I see that you have missed is that if you are both on 3uk and get the video minutes added on ( not sure how that works as its a new tariff ), they are used from 3 to 3 phones only.

Mix and Match gives you 300 3 to 3 minutes and as Sicknote just said the included video mins, if you take the phone from 3, are just 3 to 3 phones only. I'm only on PAYG but I haven't had any problems with customer services and I like 3's coverage.

Still think that you will get a better choice of phone from T-Mobile, If you make video calls you can buy a cheap 10 min bundle from T-Mobile to any network and as for C/S T-Mobile leave 3 standing. From my recent dealings with 3 they do not understand what good C/S and I still find that their coverage is dreadfull. If you want cheap and nasty go to 3 if you want a decent provider look elseware.

Hi old bill
I think that depends on the person as I will never go back to T-mobile because of they CS but that is me.

On whole 3 CS is not that bad ( I have been with them since Aug 03 ) but if you do get a bad one, try to ring again and get someone else.

Look at how Orange dealt with the N70 problem at the start until lots of people complained   .

So they can all be bad;)

Agreed it depends on how you as a person are treated. But from my recent dealing with 3 and helping a friend of mine I would say IMO that 3 has a very very long way to go in the C/S dept. I for one will not ever deal with 3 again. But at the end of the day its really down to each persons needs.

With t-mobile you have 90% uk call centres whereas 3uk have no uk call centres, t-mobile also does actually have good 3G coverage, if you not bothered about cs then join 3uk

" t-mobile also does actually have good 3G coverage," ? theres little in NI.

You forgot to say that three also use HSDPA and its faster than t-mobile or the fact that the wife has a PAYG phone so, use your nokia, buy her a three PAYG mobile and call her for free, as you get 300 3 to 3 calls.

With the three deal, its hard to beat 300m free 3 to 3 calls, free voicemail, free skype, free msn/yahoo and 25p outgoing and 10o incoming roaming rates, plus home like home which may not be to much use to you, but as I like in Ni it means I can use my mobile in the south etc

I will say that I have found 3's coverage to be very good, whereas from what I have heard, T-Mobile's is pretty patchy once you're outside main towns, although I can't verify that having never been a T-Mobile customer. 3 are sorely lacking in the handset department at the moment, although you say that you've got an unlocked N95 so that shouldn't be an issue.

I thought I read in the T-Mobile forum that they had closed their UK call centre in favour of ones in India and the Phillipines?

I've got to say that over the last two years, I've found 3 coverage to be far more superior to what None2None/T-Mobile ever managed to achieved.

Never looked back since!

Also, a couple of companies were looking to save money by switching from Vodafone to T-Mobile... after the trial period ended they decided the inferior T-Mobile coverage wasn't worth the savings (which didn't turn out to be great anyway)

Also what I will say is that the quality of 3 CS is variable - depending on who you speak to it will either be great or dire.

Yes, their call centre isn't based in the UK, but some of the staff there are excellent.

Overall, I have no real complaints about the network or its coverage.

T-mobile has far superior handset range in comparison to three who aren’t really bothered to bring in new handsets, when they do get the handsets they lose a big chunk of the early adopters market, a good example is
N95, the 300 mins are only 3 to 3, most consumers aint on 3, also im sure most consumers would rather speak to UK advisors purely for social and economic reason, 3 are getting away with cheap labour, i.e. uk call centre advisors approx earn £12 an hours whereas 3 call centres get paid around
50p per hour, hence the reason there isnt an equilibrium balance

According to the 3 website the 300 minutes are anytime and any network.

All of the Mix n Match tariffs include an *additional* 300 3 to 3 minutes

Most customers (unfortunately) only care about the level of service they get -- and not where the cal centre is actually located. The reality is that whereas before most people complained "company X's customer service are bad", now have the option of saying "... it is because they are based overseas".

Three's CS used to be abysmal; I've been (back) with Three for just over a year now and they're as good as the rest of the other networks and a lot more competitive..
