Hi,

I am looking for some help with picture messaging. I am in a new contract with O2, using a new Nokia N95.

When I try to send a picture message the phone will attempt to send it then after about a minute will come back with the following error "Unable to send message!" and when I go into the details of the error it just says "User barred!".

I have called O2 customer support and first of all they sent me a couple of configuration texts to install which I did but made no differance.

Then I tried a friends O2 SIM card in my N95 and was able to send a MMS without a problem so I don't think the phone is faulty.

O2 have now sent me a replaced SIM card which has now been activated and the WAP & MMS settings checked, however I still cannot send a MMS text and get the same error.

Anyone any ideas on what could be wrong?

Cheers

Brian

Do you have an O2 MMS profile in your Access Point settings?

Yes I have O2 MMS and O2 WAP GPRS as access points.

In Messaging/Options/Settings/Multimedia Message, is the "Access point in use" set to O2 MMS?

Also are you pay monthly or PAYG?

What happens if someone tries to send you an MMS?

I get a message from O2 saying to go to some website to retrieve the MMS so it doesn't actually come direct to the phone.

Seems to me that MMS and /or GPRS are not active on your account.

Give O2 a call and get them to check that both those services are enabled.

I had the same problem on my N95 (and my K800i before that). You just need to give them a call on 202, option 1, and they'll unbar it for you. Takes a couple of hours before it updates, but then you're good to go.

is it a brand new contract or have u upgraded? a possible solution to this is often over looked for customers who have upgraded. if you have upgraded it is quite possible that u had an imode phone, this means your sim and gprs is registered to imode. if this is the case u need to be removed from the imode service and placed onto the normal o2 active service. this can take between 24 and 48hrs.
