OK here's goes...

I have a Sony K610i with THREE.
Installed on it I have NAV4ALL, Yahoo! Go [I know 3 don't support this on the K610i], and MGMAPS all of which were working perfectly.
I'm oil rig worker I went offshore on 4th September - all of the apps were working perfectly on this day.
I did 2 weeks offshore during which time my phone was switched off.
I returned home on the 19th September - NAV4ALL and MGMAPs stopped working [data error 1 for NAv4all, maps would just not load up with MGMAPS], both would load up but could not access the data from the network.
Yahoo! Go would load things like e-mail and news but the map function [its ability to display maps] would not.
I've since been jumping though hoops with 3's CS department, Master reset, had it flashed at Carphone Warehouse etc, etc, etc. But none of these apps are working.
It looks like something has happened to 3's network between the 4th and 19th of September. Which 3 are denyng completely.
I've tried loading some apps from 3's website Yahoo! Messenger downloaded and works fine but Google Maps starts to download but stops after 1kb and states Invalid Application. Other applications do the same e.g. Yell.com works fine [including the maps!] but some others have the same invalid application warning.
I've given up with 3 CS I've asked repeatedly to be transferred to the internet access troubleshooting department but the flat refuse - "surely we will just be looking at this next before I can transfer you" etc, etc, etc.

Some one, some where please help!!!

I'm also with 3 and downloaded Opera Mini 3.1 a couple of weeks ago, tried the new beta but ended up taking off and putting 3.1 back on. This week I've tried downloading the beta again but all I get is "invalid application". I've also tried downloading other apps such as Tiny Twitter and get the same message.

It does seem like something has changed to stop apps being downloaded.

I did read in a forum that you can get round this by setting use proxy to no in the java settings but on my K800i all the settings are locked.

I got the unlimited internet add-on about 4 weeks ago so I'm new to accessing the web on a mobile. I've only got a month or so to go before I can upgrade (probably Nokia 6120) so I'm not sure if it's worth risking a master reset which I've also read might fix the problem by loading 3 new connection profiles.

Don't bother with the master reset - I've jumped through every hoop the Three CS department has held up for me. Even took it to Carphone Whorehouse for a reflash [at Three's request] still no joy.
You might however be able to download a .jar copy of Opera onto your PC, put it onto your phone memry stick and install it from there - that should [it did for me and MGMAPS] work fine.
