View Full Version : Internet down/jammed every evening?

Hi there,

I am having major issues with external /real world websites being accessed through 3UK. Interestingly, my father has the 3 USB modem, and experiences the same issues at the same time of day!

I have an N73 with X-SeriesGold add on, he uses the new 3 usb modem. We have never had any issues browsing during the day, but in the evening’s (Presumably when everyone is accessing data / internet) the service grinds to a halt.

I have done all the usual – clear cache, cookies, remove battery etc… but most evenings for the last 10 days or so I have the same issues.

Dad has the same issues at the same time of day, he can connect to the internet, but struggles to get any data passing through the modem, as if the network is “data jammed”. Eliminated PC by trying on another one, same issues though.

I can access planet 3 at all times, but it is purely external, real world websites that I cannot.

We can’t be the only two experiencing this, surely?

Can anyone shed any light on my situation? Customer services seem helpful enough but can’t offer any explanation or time scale on a resolution!

Many thanks in advance,

Trevor.

I am having the same issues as well. Looks like there is an issue with the network at the moment.

EDIT: Looks like the issue is resolved. I'll monitor it over the next little while to see if there is any pattern.

Hi, i live in London and have been using Three's internet data for over a year now, i use it every day at different times, i also use alot of data and can say this end works perfectly, only had the odd couple of times when the internet seems down, apart from that works great here! Hope they solve it for you guys real soon!

Hi,

The issue has indeed resolved itself - for now. The pattern I seem to be finding is that it occurs most evening’s, lets use this thread to post any re-occurrences of the problem.

Fingers crossed,

Trevor.

I too have experienced this on a evening on several occasions (including this evening) where the phone browser or opera mini wont connect to any external sites but the whole of the planet 3 portal works fine, also when it goes down you can still use the gmail application for some reason and msn still works sometimes and I tried connecting the pc via the phone and it still finds the dns data (ip) of the site you are visiting but fails to get a reply from the destination server or download any data. This has happened on several occasions recently sometimes early evening and sometimes a little later

Something similar has been happening to my service of late too. Sometimes all X-Series Gold features stop working, including Slingplayer and Mobile Mail.

This coincided with my first: "Sorry, you've reached your 2Gb fair use limit." text message two weeks ago. I got that three days after my "new" month and hadn't used anywhere near that amount according either to my phone's data log (not 100% accurate as it includes Sling use and Planet3) and the hidden usage page on Planet3.

I'm still using X-Series for browsing and Sling (I'm covered for Sling anyway) but I'm using it sparingly just incase they decide to charge me. FWIW the text message went on to say I couldn't use the services for what amounted to a month! I've just put it down to an error on their part, trying to avoid ringing Mumbai as much as possible!

I've had problems recently, but only when using Opera Mini - when I've tried the phone's own browser straight after Opera Mini not working, the phone's browser connects with no problems.

To me, this suggests problems with the proxy servers used by Opera, rather than with the 3 network.

One thing I forgot to mention - when I couldn't access any data outside of Planet3, I found that forcing a data disconnect and then reconnecting worked some of the time.

I've had similar problems on PAYG with the £5 a month Internet add-on. I've been using it quite a bit for 24-7 football as well as other sites but that's where all the megs go as you can imagine. I aggree with the last post that forcing it to disconnect and then trying again often works, sometimes though doesn't.
