help with software

my mrs has the software problem were the phone wont text,took it to shop today but they said they couldnt do it:confused: its unlocked but used to be on orange!! can anyone help with suggestions on why they cant do it??? and if it can be done as the phone is useless without texts:mad:

to nsu and just try to reinstall the software even if it says your up to date you can still put it on again, might just work
